Not a huge W fan but my children love it. I assume they expect nothing more than David Guetta showing up around the corner

W Barcelona is a nice one but one to be avoided during July-August. All other months make a huge difference versus European peak season.

I liked W Doha but that's mainly due to the outstanding platinum benefits. Got a WOW suite (hanging rocking chair included) and the platinum drinks/canapés can easily compete with SPG's best worldwide lounges (like the Grosvenor House Dubai).

Speaking of which: we liked the W Dubai. Stayed there during a business trip. Hard product is really nice and they have one of the best Japanese restaurants in Dubai.

W San Diego offered great, almost atypical service. But they left W/SPG in the meantime.

I have not stayed at many W hotels and I am not sure that I have a favorite yet.

The ones that I stayed at are:

The W Bali with its impressive view and sound of the waves.

The W Koh Samui that we visited shortly after its opening. Disappointed by the small 'villas' which had no ocean view, although we were located next to that nice beach.

The W Bangkok, where we always have been upgraded to a 'Marvelous Suite' and enjoyed their good breakfast.

And a couple of Ws in New York.

Planned for April: the W Paris - Opéra.

i am not a huge W fan but do like the W Hong Kong quite a bit (don't love location but everything else great). W Seoul was awesome (though that might not be in system anymore). Every other W I have been at... LA, SF was below expectations.

My list would include:
W West Hollywood (was a fan of Entourage and a few pool scenes were filmed here). Plus I often received 3 room suites and de facto invitation to modeling events at the bar.
W Minn: Once had a rock star/athlete wrap around suite.
W Seattle: Maybe a relative rather than absolute choice, but the corner rooms have great views.
W Montreal
W Dallas: Great location for attending anything at AA center. I remember staying here when everything around it was a hole in the ground or unoccupied.

Sounds like I need to get to HK. Despite 75-100 stays in W NY-based hotels, I've stayed in all but the Union Sq one. A miss on my part, I guess.

Re: the LA Ws…

W Westwood / "Beverly Hills" -- kinda in the middle of nowhere, like anything in LA… but the bar was nice. Pool scene was alright, from a quick hungover walk in the morning. Got a suite .

W Hollywood -- rooftop pool was poppin'. Awesome weekend party spot. Room was fine. Hotel common areas were more Sheraton-esque.

Staying at the W Boston this weekend and they've pre-upgraded me to the Wow Suite…

Gotta love the W Boston. By FAR the best domestic W. The service is incredible… the location is convenient… the spot is HAPPENING. During my last visit, it was the wildest hotel party I've ever seen.

W Seoul walkerhill was really one the best. Service was incredible, 100% nice plat upgrades (at least 10 stays), and room were very nice. Sadly it's not part of Starwood anymore (it's called Visita Walkerhill Seoul).

What's everyone's favorites; and if we were to collectively crown a single winner, which would it be?

For me, that's an easy call: the W Amsterdam, which shines in many categories:

- historic building
- modern design
- service
- food & beverage
- unique creative and varied room types
- platinum recognition
- fun party destination

A few others really shine in certain categories:
- W Boston -- great service and recognition
- W HK -- probably the most fun / party hotel in HK. rooftop pool parties? yes please!
- W Guangzhou -- impressive how far they've gone here; everything is grand

Many are well, fine, but nothing to write home about (W SF, W Union Square NYC, W Austin, W Bellevue (cool design, terrible service))

Some are just bad (W New Orleans)

A well executed W though remains my favorite hotel experience. Anyone else have any favorites, would love to explore more of the great ones!

Does anyone know what happened to the W Phang nga that was due to open Jan 1 2018. About a week ago it just disappeared from the Starwood list, really disappointed as this looked like a great location

Best for me so far is the W Barcelona (which we have stayed at both times we went to Spain in the last 5 years) but I think the hotel has some issues including staff attitude.

If I were just looking at US properties it would likely be the W Times Square....gasp!

(I would have stayed at the newly renovated Four Seasons Casa Medina there, but it had no air con at all. The W Bogota truly held its own.)

Btw, we LOVED Bogota, and can't wait to return.

Another vote for the W Bogota. Great restaurant, great bar, great service, friendly staff. Stayed on points and amazing upgrade to huge penthouse suite.
