Laluna, Grenada - Design Hotel [Master Thread]

I opened a New Thread on this Designer Hotel.
Has anyone had any experiences at this new Designer Hotel?

Anyone ?

Thinking about a trip here in March, so bumping this up to see if anyone has stayed here. I understand that status with Marriott/SPG/Bonvoy is not honored at Design Hotels, is that correct?

Bump from my side to see if anyone has any feedback on this property.

LaLuna

Stayed at LaLuna November, 2018 for a week. This is a very unique property, set up as bungalows up the side of a steep slope. Most are duplex, side by side except the ones at the base which are singles. Golf carts available to avoid the walk up and down but I really did not personally use these much. Restaurant, bar and beach at the base. Food and service very good, but setting is rustic and isolated. Great place to get away from civilization. Showers are attached, but outdoors. If you are looking for luxury and conveniences, this is probably not for you.

Sounds good for R&R but under the given that it will not a luxury property. I am fine with not having the most luxurious accommodation as long as the service is very good which you indicated it is.

Was the week you stayed too long or would you go back for the same time frame?

Quiet, restful

Week was fine for what we wanted as long as you are not looking for lots of activity. Quiet and restful. Property is small, boutique in nature. Setting is actually rainforest with insect and wildlife "noises" at night. Beach is very compact and adjacent to the bar and restaurant. Service is fine, but understand that this almost seems like a family run property giving an experience similar to what was once was prior to tourists overrunning the Caribbean. No children. Only 2 apparent types of accomodations: "duplexes and singles" Did not receive any nod toward status as the property was basically full (only 16 or so rooms if I remember correctly). Have stayed in multiple design properties and rarely has status been recognized, so was not expected.

No elite recognition or anything special.

marlee1421 ....thanks so much! Availability on award stays seems to be an issue for the timing I was looking at. Somewhat understandable with only 16 or so rooms.

Does anyone have any experience with the villas at this property? From the aerial shots it appears that they are located somewhat off the main resort area. A group of us are looking for a 40th birthday party this coming winter, and this may be an option.

Any elite recognition here at all?

beofotch Sep 13, 2022 12:29 pm

Any recent experiences from this property? Are all meals/drinks included on paid and/or points bookings?

MME2YYZ Oct 12, 2023 1:20 pm

Just booked 2 nights on points, any recent experiences from Elites. Any upgrades did you get late checkout? Any breakfast benefits?

MME2YYZ Dec 16, 2023 2:54 pm

Just returned from a 2 night points stay here, no upgrade but we were not in the room much anyway. There was zero recognition, I asked for a 2pm checkout and got 12pm which ended up being fine.
The outdoor bathroom ended up being a bit of a pain as it needs to be locked from the inside, and overnight bathroom visits caused mosquito bites where they had no right to be :)
Restaurant was good we had dinner both nights and 1 breakfast.
The biggest problem i had was the day pass Cruise guests, they were drunk, and rude, walking round screaming on facetime and dropping cigarette butts everywhere. I get why they sell day passes as the resort was empty during the day. If visiting Grenada I would do another night or 2 here but it is off on its own away from the main beach and its about $60 ECD to St Georges in a cab
