JW Marriott Macau - China [Master Thread]
Someone asked about this property in a dif thread & it turns out we don't have a property specific thread, so decided to create one.
Hotel website: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...t-hotel-macau/ Cat 8. Exec lounge open daily. Website says access for 1 for single occupancy; access for 2 for double occupancy. Additional charges for extra guests (no idea if additional charge is enforced). Recently stayed here. Similar to the older reviews, as a Plat, was upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the "top floor" with a view overlooking the pool. Had a nice note and Sparkling/still water and fruit waiting for me in the room. Very nice property, Plats received 30% off at the restaurants in the hotel. Dined at both Urban Kitchen (Buffet) and Man Ho which were very good. Received an email before arrival welcoming me to check in at the Club desk and providing me car options from the ferry terminal (declined and took the free shuttle bus). Ended up checking in at the Front Desk (though they did ask me if I wanted to just go to the Club room), Front Desk was helpful with giving me suggestions on things to do.
If coming from Hong Kong Island, would suggest taking the ferry to the Taipei Ferry Terminal and then catching the free shuttle to the JW (third stop). It's a little faster and it seemed to be less crowded then the Macau Ferry Terminal (arrived at Macau; left out of Taipei). Prices are consistent between the two ferry operators (if going first class to/from Taipei make sure you have a Mastercard as you get 20% off first class tickets). |

Lounge offerings look to have been downgraded from what I remember in dec 15.

Standard room is 45 meters, while premier room is 50 meters which is closer to grand hyatt size. have anyone stayed at both room type and notice if there is any difference?
Since my friends had stayed at premier room and it's on higher floor but didn't notice it was larger than standard room. |

Like Singapore_Air reported, the room is very nice (it isn't the chairman suite. I got it as an upgrade for one paid night as well. Executive suite or something). Lounge offering: well, for dinner food actually tastes pretty good, selection isn't great, service isn't great.
I stayed at Sheraton prior and liked actually eating in a restaurant (Feast, while their club lounge is closed) cause service is consistent (well, it is a restaurant) and attentive. The access to the fun pool stuff is nice. But Galaxy seems isolated from the rest of the strip, you get your own little world, though there are many international chains in the Galaxy mall area (sort of like Dubai) if you like that sort of thing. |
An exceptional JW Marriott
Since there is isn’t many trip report of this hotel, please find my comments below: I am a Gold Elite and was advised to check in at the executive lounge instead. Jisu who checked me in was very good and upgraded me from a Deluxe to a Premier which is basically a higher floor with the resort view which was nice. I was offered complimentary breakfast in either lounge or main restaurant(this is a plus and I wish more Marriott properties adopt this instead of forcing everyone to squeeze in the executive lounge and limited to a small range although our perk technically entitles us to only continental breakfast), I was proactively offered a late check out at 4pm which is not required as I had a ferry to catch but I appreciated the offer. JW Marriott Macau opened about two years ago, rooms are modern and well maintained without any wear and tear. I also love the high tech including switchable privacy glass for the bathroom, electric outlet for the toilet and electric blinds. I like to judge a hotel by its amenities and find it great to have Aromatherapy Associates available. One slight pet peeve was that the tea amenities provided in the room is Dilmah while Executive Club Lounge offers TWG and main restaurant offers Dilmah Exceptional. There was also a turndown service which was impeccable. Executive lounge actually isn’t very big for a hotel with 1001 rooms but is quite well serviced. I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the perks but the timings are as follows: Breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am (11am on weekends) High tea at 2.30 to 5.00pm Hors D’oeuvres from 5.30 to 7.30pm Evening Cocktails from 5.30pm to 7.30pm Complimentary shuttles to and from all the major ports are available on a hourly/30 minute basis, do check with the concierge for exact timings. They used to have one that drops near Senado Square but it is no longer available but there is one to StarWorld Hotel as it is under the same owner. Nevertheless taxis in Macau are cheap and you can get to Senado square for less than USD10. As this property is linked to Ritz Carlton, you are able to dine and charge your bills to the room and earn Marriott points. Lai Heen at Ritz Carlton has 1 Michelin Star and is really good. In summary, excellent hardware and software. |

I would like to stay in this hotel in September. I would arrive at the HKG airport from TPE. What should I do differently than the instructions given on the hotel web reproduced below?
"Exit the airport through the E1 transfer area where the TurboJet air/sea transfer desk is located. Follow the signs for the ferry. Do not pass through immigration. Hand in your luggage tag at the air/sea transfer desk so that your baggage will be transferred from the plane to the ferry. Limousine and taxi services are available from the Macau ferry terminal to the hotel. Limousine service must be pre-arranged through the hotel." |

Both operators offerings are really very similar so take whichever offers a timing that is more suitable for you but Cotai alights you at Taipa port which is closer to JW Marriott (the other will probably take another 10-15 minutes on the bus) After you alight from the ferry, look for the galaxy buses which will bring you to JW Marriott.
