This issue reached near-epidemic proportions last year, when almost all my stays were shorted over a period of 3 or 4 months, but actually so far this year, nearly all my stays have posted correctly, including a few prepays, but regrettably not all. Birmingham Marriott has shorted me about 1500 points on a prepay in January, which despite calling MR has yet to be sorted and is on my "to do" list. So it's still a pain.
Nonetheless, even before this problem reached epidemic proportions last year, significant point shorting has ALWAYS been a problem at Marriott, never experienced it at Hilton or IHG. Every year I've had to call Marriott at least once, and often many more times than that due to significant points shorting and I do wonder how much of a "mistake" this is. I certainly feel that Marriott's problem with points allocation would be very quickly resolved if hotels that significantly point shorted (say by 20% or more of the total due) had to pay compensation of double the points actually shorted each time. I think this would really sort out this "accidental" problem very quickly.

Well your post did make me wonder, so I looked at my stay history and folios. It turns out they're all due to advance prepay rates. Whatever is prepaid doesn't get points, unless I chase them up.

Common shorting issue on exchange rate and welcome bonus points. However, sometimes I think I am shorted only to realize that there are no points on "taxes and service charges" which could easily be 20% of the total invoice.

Since 1/1/14, 3 out of 6 stays did not post to my MR account, so I had to file a missing stay report. For some missing stays, I did get emailed receipts, for some I didn't... I am always being asked at the front desk about the PAG, so my MR# is in the reservation all the time. I don't get it - some IT glitch at Marriott?

I needed to stay at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott a couple times last month while my heat was being repaired at home. Neither posted until I called to get an emailed receipt and the submitted a missing stay request. And neither repost included the 500 point "arrival gift" until I pestered them again.
Normal rates, not prepaid. Reservations made through the Marriott site.
Very irritating.

I spoke to MR specialist. She advised me that there was a glitch where some properties didn't report stays to the mothership and therefor we were hit with an avalanche of missing stays. According to her, this is now resolved, but you need to submit a missing stay request in order for the points to be properly credited.

Am I missing something obvious?
I had my first Marriott stay in years earlier this month; still had my card and provided it at check-in. Surprise--I didn't get credit for the stay. No problem: I have a printout of the folio and went through their on-line Missing Stay process. I filled in all the information, attached the PDF of the folio, and . . . . there's no place on the Missing Stay screen to click on to submit the missing stay request--no "Submit" button.
What am I missing here?

Apparently, now that you've scanned the paper copy, you're supposed to go back and select "Yes, I have a digital copy", then provide the name of the scanned file, and it allows you to "Submit".
Obvious, no?

Looks like a glitch in the Missing Request page: If you select "Yes, I have a paper copy", then "Attach a scanned copy", it asks for the name of the scanned file, but doesn't allow you to "Submit".

I've found most of my trouble with missing stays/points are with the Vacationclub properties. They rarely post the plat 500pt welcome bonus, and often my marriott rewards number is either missing or has an incorrect coding at the prefix (something else instead of MR) so the system doesn't recognize the stay.

By email, do you mean the eFolio? If so, points usually post within 24 hours after receipt of the eFolio.
That said, there have been various problems in the last few weeks with delivery of eFolios and with the posting of points. Some type of IT problem/problems with central Marriott IT.
My advice is to wait until ten days after check-out to contact Marriott about the missing points. Any sooner and you'll waste your time plus get a lecture from the phone reps.
