Just received clarification from hotel that lounge is open every day with snacks and drinks every day but breakfast complimentary in main restaurant at weekends and on Mondays.

Website is out of date and they said they’ll update it.

If anybody is interested, the lounge at Leeds Marriott is open. Free booze available from 17:00 until 21:00. I didn't partake as I'm out and about.

Breakfast available in the restaurant rather than the lounge.

Had a stay here a few weeks ago. Above is still true. Breakfast is poor imo. But lounge is nice enough. Rooms are decent, if on the older side. Location is right near the train station (a plus if you're using it). Service is friendly. Rooms on the lower floors have high ceilings making them nice choices if you want to feel more spacious. I moved to a higher floor room however, as I preferred a room without a connecting door (to keep noise down). Flushing the toilet in my room was a workout. Never saw a button so hard to press. Rooms could use an upgrade but daily rates reflect the age so it evens out.

Does anyone know if the lounge is operational on weekends?

Has anyone stayed here of late? I'm seeing reviews on TripAdvisor that suggest rooms have been refurbished. Wondered if this extended to suites? Recent photos don't look too bad but everything up until recently indicated the hotel was very dated.

hi, I stay here on a regular basis.
The rooms I stay in are very nice, with a lot including the suites having been refurbished.
I would say the hotel is far from dated and is one of the nicest Marriotts I stay in.
The restaurant is in the process of being refurbished and due to open in a couple of weeks , it will be operated by Gino DeCampo.

2 night stay. I'm pleasantly surprised by this, as my general perception of the Marriott brand is, well, uber blandness.

The location is very central, and late at night a couple of the streets are pretty lively though all seems perfectly safe. The hotel has had a recent, deep, refurb and looks really smart with some nice finishes, plenty of colour and a number of period features well looked after. This Plat was upgraded to an exec room, which is pretty big, freshly refurbished and a comfy bed. Shame they have kept the shower over bath, it's much nicer when hotels remove pointless baths and provide a walk in shower but I can't have everything.

Exec lounge is in an unusual location in the foyer, but well segregated. Breakfast is available in here, and had a decent selection of hot stuff, breads, pastries and the usual limited fruit selection. There is booze for 4 hours in the evening and snacks for 2 hours as well. Not made it to those on this visit.

Notably friendly and helpful staff too. Having previously stayed at the Doubletree, the Marriott will be my new go to. It feels more a like a big city hotel than a bland cookie cutter box or the usual, faintly depressing, UK provincial hotel.

Just had a very good stay here - this is part of my 5 star review I did for the hotel :-

First thing is location - it is right in the city centre, very close to the main Trinity shopping area, so couldn't be more convenient.

Check in was smooth, friendly and efficient, despite our early arrival - thanks to our Titanium status, we received a nice suite upgrade and were delighted to see that this is one of the few non-London locations that has retained its Exec Lounge. After settling into our room , we enjoyed a very welcome coffee and afternoon cake in the lounge.

The building itself seems quite old with high ceilings and quite grand decor, but our room had been tastefully renovated with enough plugs and USB points for us.

The bed was huge and very comfortable. A bath is always a bonus too. We were in a corner room with one wall adjacent to the main. road, but the noise from outside didn't bother us.

We enjoyed the evening food and drink service in the lounge - excellent variety and quality of both; and the buffet was kept topped up and fresh constantly. The tables were also cleared quickly, allowing a good through-flow of customers during the evening.

We had an excellent night's sleep and then enjoyed a very nice full breakfast in the lounge in the morning. I often gauge the standard of Marriotts by the quality and variety of the breakfast buffet; and the Leeds Marriott scored very highly here - especially in the selection of fruit / yoghurts.

If there are negatives, - the in-house restaurant is an Italian done by a 'celebrity chef', and I didn't see anyone use it at all in the evening.

The cost of city centre parking is also quite high, but we can't blame the hotel for this, as apparently they offer a discount at the nearby Trinity car park. To get round the car park charges, we used the very good Leeds Metro park'n'ride service - the bus stops just round the corner from the hotel on Briggate - the single fare on the bus is £2.50 each way, though single tickets can't by purchased on board, you have to download the Metro Bus app, which is no hardship.

The friendliness and professionalism of all the staff stands out for me, they were chatty and helpful throughout our stay. This was maintained right until we checked out.

All in all an excellent stay and I am certain we will be back later this summer.

Nick
