I have a 1-night points reservation in January (and a back-up reservation elsewhere). Today I noticed that awards are not available that month or the entire year. Also, the opening date is now 11-17-17. I assumed the date would change after several storms hit FL.

looks like it's "open" now (i see no reference to a future opening date)?

also, appears they fixed the "glitch" in the system - i thought it odd that pricing was 300+/night for my reservations in january, yet only cost 3,000 starpoints/night. appears now to be 10,000/night.

Currently Here
As a PLAT I checked in yesterday for a one-night stay (I got in at 4,000 points). Hotel seems to be mostly open, they're still adding things like benches outside the front. Overall, Lobby looks very nice, and a full-service restaurant and bar open for breakfast and then from lunch until midnight.
Check in was a bit disorganized, obviously due to the newness of the property.
They hotel does have suites (there are two on my floor), which I was upgraded to. Large room with separate living room. Bathroom still standard size, from what I can tell.
Continental breakfast is absolutely tiny, so I did upgrade for $4 to the full buffet (first time I've done this as a PLAT). Food quality was great!
Pics to follow.

TripAdvisor has really slammed this place, even with the rebranding. I have a one night stay here in February, but am thinking maybe the Hyatt Place nearby? No status here. Will be interested to see your photos - wonder what a basic room is like.

Looking forward to my trip
There still isn't a Four Points by Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise Port page on tripadvisor. The old property, Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise Port Inn still has a page even though it's now a rebranded Sheraton. Looking forward to my stay.. Feel lucky to have booked before it went from a category 2 to category 4.

Avoid at all costs
SPG Platinum here: I booked a stay about 2 weeks ago as I was flying in late and I thought I would try a new property. I checked in, the guy was friendly enough. Walked into my room, went into the bathroom, saw a small cockroach but didn't think too much of it as hey, it's Florida. Turned on the light next to the bathroom and about 8 larger roaches scattered. I noped out of there and went to the Westin.
Would not dream of staying here again.....

I didn't have any problem with my 3,000 point stay last month. Check in was a bit chaotic as was the pick up from the airport but otherwise, the stay was uneventful.

Just did a one-night stay here prior to a cruise. tl;dr it's perfectly cromulent for an overnight stay if you aren't too choosy and set your expectations to 4P.
Free airport shuttle, but you have to call to request it.
No upgrade at check-in (noon) despite suites available for booking. Question: I know in general that available for booking doesn't necessarily mean it's in the upgrade pool, but it's a 4P, how many suite types do they have? Or does the conventional wisdom mean, even in the lowest type of suite, the upgrade pool may only be a subset of available rooms?
Anyway it was a one-night stay, so I didn't make a stink about it, but I did point out they were available on the web site. FDC said "oh, since the Marriott merger things are sometimes weird, I think we might even be oversold tonight." Note there were still both regular king and 2 queen rooms on the app, as well as the aforementioned suites. This was also true when I checked back out of curiosity around 5pm. At 11pm the suites were no longer bookable but the regular rooms were still there. Shrug.
Asked about transfer to cruise port the next morning and was directed to use an iPad bolted to the end of the reception desk which was connected to the web site of their transportation partner, $8pp. (The receipt comes from "Ways FL" but the podium out front says Alianza; they say they're in the middle of a name change.) Pick-up was on time the following morning and carried out efficiently.
The room had a distinct musty smell, which granted it's Florida, but maybe it doesn't get much ventilation when vacant.
FDC had asked if we wanted points or breakfast but then immediately offered "actually let me give you both, since there was no upgrade available" which was nice of them. Things seem to have improved since post 35 upthread as I found the breakfast to be fairly reasonable, if also somewhat disorganized. There were no tables open so we asked if we could sit at the bar; they said sure, took my plat breakfast chit and gave us seats, which we returned to find other people sitting in and my chit was gone but they still had theirs. They received a $0 bill, we were apparently going to get charged. I pointed this out to our server, who came back with a chit and said "is this one yours?" "No, our last name is ___" and she walked away and muttered under her breath "I'll just use this one" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Misc. dining recommendation: we tried a nearby establishment called "KUBO asian fusion street food and sushi" picked mostly at random for the qualities of being a non-chain restaurant within walking distance and found it to be quite good.
