Hotel website.

Category 7. Opening April 2017.

"This is a truly cosmopolitan hotel with an urban vibe. Close to the world famous shopping and dining experience of Aventura Mall plus the excitement of Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino. A short drive is the stadium home of the Miami Dolphins."

I live very close to this location but didn't realize it was being built, a lot of building in the area though so maybe I just assumed it was apartments or an office building. Now, in Aventura, we are pretty well represented by Marriott brands: Courtyard, AC, Residence Inn and Autograph Collection, not bad for a fairly small town.

Just stayed here for a few nights and on the whole felt my expectations were met but with a few significant shortcomings and disappointments.

The property has been open approximately six months and is on 207th street just north of the mall but south of the Target/Whole Foods shopping center near the Aventura Lakes subdivision. Parking is a mandatory $25/night valet and other than a few spots on 30th Avenue (to the south-towards the mall) there really isn't any parking alternatives other than chancing it at the Aventura Commons Shopping center. Valet was slow, unresponsive and unprofessional. I pulled up in my vehicle to park for the evening on my second night and one of the valets in uniform opened the door and proceeded to sit down in the rear passengers seat. When asked what he was doing he said he thought I was an Uber driver and proceeded to laugh and offer no apology yet returned to serving other guests. I get that this is Florida and I shouldn't expect polished service at a limited service property but still seemed pretty ridiculous and inappropriate.

Wifi here is an absolute joke even with the enhanced speed (complimentary for Marriott Gold and Platinum). Plan to use your own hotspot or mobile device. Bathrooms are spacious with walk-in shower and fairly good water pressure. Desk was a bit narrow for me and lacked a proper desk chair but there were ample outlets and lighting available.

Can't comment on breakfast or lobby bar as I did not avail myself but the gym is fairly good and located on the fourth floor overlooking the swimming pool.

Overall I probably would be willing to give this property another chance, it is a convenient location and has the potential to be a great place to stay.

This is really a budget hotel, imo. I don’t understand Marriott’s goal with the AC brand.

They got rid of the valet, which is what I prefer. Self parking is $20/day with plentiful parking space within the garage or outside the entrance.

Rooms are really just studio or a regular room. Property is decently maintained; signs of age are showing and upkeep seems to be lacking.

Here’s where my biggest issue comes in. The room itself is consistent in terms of design with other AC hotels; but cleaning seems to be an issue here. While bed and table etc are clean, you can tell the floor and the washroom needs a bit more TLC. There was just an “icky” feeling throughout my entire stay.

This was further confirmed when the slippers I wore (that I usually bring every trip) was all dirty underneath.

Also, since when did AC hotels start cutting on basic stuff like cups or glasses? There wasn’t even a soap tray to hold the hand soap. The shampoo and shower gel also seems to be watered down since it was very runny.

Somehow they’ve managed to make FI/RI’s more attractive.

Service wise, everything was great and staff was as friendly as it gets. There’s free coffee during the mornings, and a breakfast buffet for $25 (or $20, I forgot). No restaurants on site.

Would I recommend? No. There are other properties in the area with a quick 2 min drive to Aventura Mall for better food options/shopping.

Overall this was a big contrast from my previous AC stays in other cities.
