I looked more closely at the map and you're right. I thought StR was closer to Wan Chai.

Now staying in for the weekend. Services itself is excellent and professional. As a local, I must praise the hotel willing to use Traditional Chinese and even play local pop song! Absolutely warm my heart when so many HK hotel only consider mainland tourist nowadays!

As a platinum member, receive almost no benefit, standard 1000pts / Breakfast or local amenity ($100 USD F&B coupon). No Happy Hrs in bar or so.

Booked Grand Deluxe, receive minor pre-upgrade to their Premium Harbour View Room. Don't bother to ask further, but butler actively turn down my potential request by saying the hotel was full which I hardly believe. (Website showed good availability and suite next to my room believe no one living in)

Breakfast from 0630 in their Chinese restaurant , Rún located at 2/F. Feature la carte menu and a semi buffet session. As elite member, you can choose Western or Chinese breakfast set. Semi-buffet is quite limited with only chose of cold cut cheese and ham, cereal and fresh fruit. If it is full, they will open The Drawing Room but only a la carte will be provided.

I shall post some picture later on, overall services is good, Room is great. However no or nearly non-exists of platinum recognition compare with JW or W. Better than RC if consider RC offer no breakfast for elite.

Not sure that the JW or W is known for being overly generous with suite upgrades, either.

At least JW have a large lounge with variety offering all day; and W provide 1 free drink in WooBar

I've never gotten a suite upgrade at the JW over maybe 10 stays. Got a Cool Corner the one time I stayed at the W.

W is not known to be generous with suite upgrades due to capacity issues, but they try and they've been pretty good to me, with both upgraded rooms and suites.

Honestly I love their Cool Corner room than their standard suite, which have the Harbour view in the living room and the bathroom.

Review - The St. Regis Hong Kong

Arrival
The hotel is located at Wan Chai near HKCEC, which is the central location to everything. The hotel can be easily reach by public transportation. (Purchase an Octopus Card is a must, this store value card is everything you need to stay in Hong Kong.) The hotel entrance at the ground level with large parking area in-front.

When I entered the hotel, there was a small concierge desk where I was greeted by the butler team member. She politely asked for my name, locate my portfolio and escort me to my room to complete the check in. I was thinking how they will arrange manpower to escort guests to the room during peak hours.

To get to my room, we first arrived 2/F, change another set of lift to the guest room.

The Great Room
The great room is the actual lobby. Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, many natural light coming in. The whole design concept extended from here to the guest room. At the far end is which The Drawing Room, St. Regis Bar located.

Check-in
The whole checkin process was finished in my room. It was breeze, smooth and personalised. My butler recognised and welcomed me being a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member, she handover the benefit list I entitled.

No surprise, they offer standard welcome gift: 1000pts / breakfast or local amenity (100 USD F&B coupons). I felt a bit disappointed if compare with nearby St. Regis Macao. Their gorgeous offer includes free-flow (non) alcoholic beverages and snacks during Happy Hours in the bar. Even more, they tend to offer BOTH breakfast AND points to elite member too.

Efficiency, my butler bring along a mobile POS device so need not to take my card down to the cashier to hold hotel credit. This felt more secure than similar in-room checkin process in St. Regis Macao, as they will take your card down to front-desk to complete the process.

Room
129 guest rooms & suites located between 8/F to 27/F, my room was located at the middle, 18/F this time.

Guest room between 2 wings, Guest Room 01-05 and Guest Room 06-09

From the layout, the room can enjoy Harbour View should limited to Guest Room 8 and 9.

I booked Grand Deluxe Room with Partial Harbour View. During my arrival, my butler excited to told me I was being upgraded to the Premier Harbour View Room. The hotel located just behind and between Renaissance Harbour View and a commercial building, therefore almost all the view is blocked unless you have been assigned a room on those top floors.

However, the hotel welcome you to another face of Hong Kong, as a concrete jungle. Offer good and stunning city view that can showcase how busy Hong Kong is. Unlike other hotels which may be too close to other building, here have just enough distance to avoid the pressure between.

The room’s interior design is elegant. Bronze colourd metal with wood make the room luxury, but also warm and welcome.

There was 2 closets and a large area between to put the luggage. Slippers, safe, umbrella, laundry bags etc. can be found inside the closet.

Full-stocked mini-bar with variety of spirits, wine, soft-drinks and coffee making facility. The Nespresso machine even with stream pipe but sadly didn’t have any milk in the fridge. Anyway, I could always ask the butler to send coffee or tea to the room so I won’t bother to make one myself.

In the room, a lounge with large sofa and chair. Without formal working desk, this lounge also is the area where I get the job done. The table is large enough for me to put laptop on and also enjoy the tea.

Equipped with LG 55” 4K TV and Yamaha sound bar, I could connect my devices to TV and sound-bar through HDMI or bluetooth. Besides, I can also watch YouTube directly from the TV, they even installed Google Chromecast for screen sharing. Sadly as an Apple guy, it was useless for me. However as a tech-savvy, I really welcome the move.

Bed comfort never a concern for me consider it is a St. Regis Hotel. I fell asleep quickly for whole night thanks for the King-size bed and good air-cond. I still prefer a cool temperature room when sleep

Two nightstands between the bed with lighting control, 2 USB chargers and a socket. I really love the panel design, it was so handy so you can work on your bed with laptop without care about battery. It would be perfect if they provide wireless charging, so I can get rid of those annoying cables.

Talking about cables, the housekeeping team had a nice touch by strapping my laptop cables. I really hate those long cables messing around, so this small move surprise me so much.

Ruark bluetooth speaker, also served as alarm and radio. TV control is made by metal, it felt cleaner than the plastic one in my points of view.

The bathroom was as specious as the room with copper and marbles finishing. A big mirror with two basins which big enough for 2 people wash up at the same time. One thing annoyed me so much was the position of shower and toilet; Where the shower is located at the far end, it made me so difficult to reach the towel and so.

Bath salt and a headrest behind the tub. In front of it, TV hidden under the mirror so you can watch when you are bathing. Bath amenities was standard Reméde across all St. Regis Hotel. Bath robes was made by Frette for St. Regis. The robes was soft and warm and comfortable.

Other toiletries was also stocked and replenish each day. Good to see they respect Hong Kong to use Traditional Chinese on packaging.

Dining
My butler asked if I had any plan and recommended me to dine in the Chinese Restaurant, Rún or French Restaurant L'Envol. These two restaurant now open only for in-house guests. I opted to dine in L'Envol during the weekend and she promptly help me to book the table.

In St. Regis, I could always ask butler sent tea or coffee to my room, The services is 7x24 which request through Marriott App Chat, WhatsApp, email or in-room phone.

In-Room Dining
I tried the in-room dining during date of arrival, mot many choice however food in excellent quality, I wanted the duck confit but not available, changed to beef fillet which was so tender and tasty. The Spring roll with black truffle was gorgeous too.

The St. Regis Bar
During the day of arrival, the St. Regis Bar was full. I asked my butler next day if I could reserve a table first. Undoubtedly, she helped me to reserve and asked where I wanted to sit, sofa, high table or in-front of the bar. Excellent Services!

The St. Regis Bar located at the corner of The Drawing Room. The area is cozy. The outdoor area hadn’t open during my visit.

The big mural showed the historic and modern Wan Chai, I hadn’t have the chance to ask the bartender about the secret behind.

14 cocktails inspired by local and original from New York offed in The St. Regis Bar

Each St. Regis has their signature Bloody Mary; In Hong Kong, it is called Canto Mary

L'Envol
L'Envol is one of three restaurants in St. Regis Hong Kong. Headed by 18 Michelin stars famous chef Olivier Elzer, whom formerly from Pierre at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and Culinary Director in W Hong Kong, the restaurant definitely would be the hit in the future. During dinner, they offered 2 different options: 9-courses signature menu and 4-courses tailer made(surprise) menu. I was a bit full so choose for 4 courses.

The food was gorgeous and excellent, I really loved the beef jelly with caviar. The veal was cooked perfectly, everything was so fresh and delicious.

Veal fillet & wasabi veal head.

Dessert with Coffee jelly and ice-cream

Breakfast - Rún
The breakfast was served at the Chinese Restaurant Rún between 0630-1030, they will open The Drawing Room during peak hours when necessary. Breakfast featured set menu and semi-buffet. I tried out both American and Chinese Breakfast. Both were good, but I preferred the Chinese one since the American one is so common.

As an elite member, I can choose 1 from below set menu.

From the semi-buffet session, the hotel offered range of selection from bakery, cold-cut, ham, cheese, fresh fruit and cereal.

American Breakfast: Eggs, sausage and hash browns

Chinese Breakfast: Dim-Sum and 2 choice of Congee

Gym
The gym is located at the 7/F; Swimming pool at the same floor and would be open next month. The gym was large and equipped with latest equipments by Technogym. If you’re Apple Watch user like me, you will be thankful that all requirements could link up with Apple Watch to record exercise status. Steam room was located inside the changing room at the same floor, however without any sauna facility.

Overall
As a new hotel, St. Regis Hong Kong delivered top standard. Hotel staffs were professional, attentive and friendly. Many of them working in other top luxury hotel before which you could easily tell. However I felt some of them still nervous and careful when talked to a normal guest like me. The hotel definitely one of the nice hotel I’ve visited. With such competitive market in Hong Kong, I would love to see how they will improve and look forward for my next visit.
