I am consistently having issues trying to book a 5 night award stay at this property. At first I thought it was just a me/browser issue but then I called reservations and they are saying unavailable on their side as well and to try again later. I've been trying for 2+ weeks now and anytime I click into the hotel to view award rates from the main search page, I get "An unexpected error has occurred. This service is temporarily unavailable. But don't worry, we're on it. Please try again later." If I change search criteria to a 4 night or any other duration the awards list loads just fine -- it's just the 5 night that consistently breaks and it's only an issue with this specific property.
Have others experienced this error too? It happens no matter what browser or device I use, signed in or not. Incredibly frustrating because the flexible calendar even shows availability, and if I go night by night the availability is there too, but as soon as I switch it to 5 nights then it errors out

Stayed here recently, and I can confirm that the $100 USD elite benefit compensation can be invoked against the continental Starbucks / Whale Tail breakfast amenity. But you need to email the Guest Experience team about this in advance of checking in, as the front desk team will have no idea about doing this.

Isn't this resolved by the property adding Whale's Tail to where you can redeem for breakfast? I can understand if Starbucks was the only choice, but now it seems like they've covered their bases

From what we could gather after she looped in a higher tier support colleague and the property directly, there's some sort of bug in the system where the reservation engine basically kicks an error and fails the search because it thinks one of the nights isn't actually available on any award, even though the flexible dates calendar shows there should be availability and even if you search for that one night specifically there is availability. We couldn't quite diagnose why it was only happening with this property in particular (after all - if this was a wider issue it likely would have been brought up by others). Eventually we were able to make it work with dates that returned positive base-level availability on all 5 nights but it took a lot of back and forth with date checks.
Incredibly frustrating because if I went and booked each night separately I would be able to make it work, but it would require a 5th night "penalty" since the free night wouldn't apply as it would on a normal single reservation for 5 nights.
I would invite others to try booking the same dates where I receive errors and see if they also receive the same. Try 10/31 - 11/5 or 10/30-11/4 to receive an error, but then try checking each of those dates individually (they all have the base garden view room available). Then alternatively, try 11/6 - 11/11 to see results and pricing actually populate correctly for the 5 night stay (346K at this point in time, with 5th night free)

Yeah I was getting the same issues on the app. After many times calling over the last few weeks and getting agents unwilling to dig further, I finally got somebody today who took some time to try and figure out -- mainly because she was a tenured agent and was getting the same errors on her end which she had never seen before.

There was a period a while back where this property was offering awards only in four night blocks, effectively preventing anyone from getting fifth night free. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they've done something to accomplish that once again.

That was my thought too, but then it would be odd where some nights are available in five night blocks and only some nights were impacted by this issue. And it's not like the dates in question are peak period or high season where there's incentive to block the 5th night- I think November is one of the slowest months -- as likely reflected by the room rates being around 80K/night vs 100k/night for dates I checked in September

Thanks, we were considering that if it was just me and my wife. However this time we will be bringing the toddler and I think this hotel will be better with their kids pool area, as well as likely better weather on this side of the island especially given November is already a tougher month for weather without adding in the island microclimates. We stayed at this property last year and fell in love with the location (easy walking distance to so many amazing restaurants) and amenities (the adults infinity pool is incredible). Maybe we will try the RItz on our next solo trip.

Agreed this property is known for it's not being so "user friendly" toward points stays / honoring status.

Staying here as a platinum over Labor Day weekend-ish (9/3-9/6) in the garden view booked via points. I imagine the property will be near-capacity given the long weekend and I shouldn't expect much; but, in the event I do get an upgrade, it sounds like I might be put into a "partial-ocean view" room in Haleakala tower facing the access road that has loud morning truck noise.
Assuming I can't pushback for another location, is the base garden view room 'worse' than the partial ocean view in H-tower? Are all the garden view rooms overlooking the parking lot? Would prefer the truck noise over a parking lot view, but neither would be best. Any advice is very appreciated!
