I stayed at the nearby W Hotel last time for a 5-day birthday trip.
Let's try the 4P this time and hit the W for brunch or drinks.

At 3,000 points/night, possibly with a room upgrade (SPG Gold), this is a very sweet opening deal indeed!

Check In Property FacadeCheck-in areaThis Four Points was a conversion from a previously independently managed hotel, retaining much of the original staff. The front desk agents were probably one of the warmest people I've encountered in the Four Points chain. I had emailed ahead to see if they could buy a local SIM card and it was handled without any issue.In terms of Plat recognition, there wasn't much beyond standard Four Points level of service. I was accompanied to my room, given a "tour" and there was a welcome amenity (plate of chocolates and a letter from the GM) but I suspect it is standard SOP at this hotel. Measuring at about 600sqft, it wasn't the most "value for money" upgrade, but the finishing and decor was surpringly well done and exceeded my expectations for a Four Points. The only real complaint was that were wasn't a working desk. Not pictured is the balcony that spans the length of the room. Every room has a balcony according to a staff member. In addition to a pretty standard buffet there was an ala carte menu comprising of standard favorites like waffles, pancakes and in line with the season there was a Christmas twist to the items. The orange juice was not of freshly squeezed variety. Pool Pool areaSunbathing DeckThe pool is located down the stairs from the restaurant. There seems to be ample seating for guests. There are also rooms that directly open up into the pool. Location The only real downside to this place is its location. It is situated at the tail end of a dead end road in the Petitenget area of Seminyak which makes it highly inaccessible. There is a buggy service that makes its rounds to the popular areas (the W beach included), but it is a bit of a hassle and isn't on demand. Therefore I would look elsewhere if location is important to you. Overall The finishings for this property really exceeded expectations and is far beyond the usual basic Four Points you'd expect. The service from the staff members have been warm and friendly. They seem geniunely interested in the well being of the guests and making sure they are enjoying their stay. The layout of the hotel is a bit of a maze, but rooms were well appointed to maximize privacy. The hotel is also surrounded by rice fields which make for a nice view but attracts mosquitos (keep your windows shut). There are only 4 levels (they skipped the number 4 as is the norm in this region) with The Best Brew on the 5th (6th) level roof, so it isn't a tall building but offers nice views since there aren't any other buildings in the vicinity.It breaks my heart to say this but I probably would not return with the location being the dealbreaker.

We're here right now. Five nights at IDR650,000++ per night which is the cheapest SPG hotel on the island and actually ok value for a branded hotel in Bali in any case.

We've stayed at the W before in Bali and didn't like it. Here, however, we are happy and especially given the rate. I'd agree with ignorantcow's review. It's a good hotel. The staff are truly excellent and the welcome at check in was world class.

As Plat's we got upgraded to a suite (really a large room), took breakfast for two for five days rather than the 250 bonus points and secured a late check out at 4pm. All strictly by the book but I didn't mind having to choose between breakfast for five days or 250 points as the breakfast is so manifestly better value for two people. Probably the best breakfast we've had in a Four Points with a buffet and made-to-order items.

Styling for the hotel is not similar to the Four Points in, say, Penang or Sandakan. While not really a Balinese experience the room makes more of an effort to be local than most chain hotels would. Not surprising since it's a conversion.

I don't wish to repeat the review above however I will give a slightly different opinion about the point made regarding the location. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk for five-to-seven minutes you are at the beach right by the W hotel. The beach is no great shakes (black sand) but if you're at the W you are also by some of Bali's famous beach bars. Most people will not be aware of this as the hotel web site and other reviews don't mention it. If you walk by the road to the W and on to the heart of Seminyak then it does take a while. Like 20-25 mins to the W. Alternatively, it's a very quiet hotel with the lowest room rates in Bali. Which for a modernised Four Points I think is good value.

Given the excellent service, breakfast and nice suite rooms I'd not hesitate to come back while I'm building up my eligible nights this year. From KL, this would make a brilliant mattress run :-).

Depend how much you get. OK hotel with good recognition of elite. I stayed 3 nights in May. I don't quite like the location. Hard to go to the beach. Road is not well light.

The GM said the local authority is "fixing" the road.

Also I don't quite like the layout of the resort. Hard to go to pool and my suite is facing the "garden" at the back.

I don't know what exactly transpired, but as a Gold I was upgraded from a basic room to one of their junior suites. Very well appreciated and welcome surprise. Plenty of space and very well appointed. Absolutely enjoyed my stay here.

Before staying here I did raise a complaint at the Laguna the day before - my room not being ready at 3pm (previous guest had late check-out) and I had to clear the room by 12pm because next guest wants to check-in early at 1pm, leaving me boxed in the middle. I can't help feeling the unexpected generous upgrade was due to my complaint at the Laguna.

I recently spent a couple nights here, figuring I might as well check off the last Bali SPG property I hadn’t stayed at. I concur with the posts above that this is an ok Four Points; like the other posters, I’m not very likely to return.

Staff were friendly, and I was upgraded to a junior suite. The hotel has quite a few suites -- 4 full and over a dozen junior by my (admittedly rough) count -- so upgrade chances are quite good. My junior suite was on the top floor and had a view of the ocean in the distance (although many suites do not; the building is shaped _________|___ and the |___ is where the suites are located; for a view, you want to be on the top floor in the ___ part -- rooms 562 and 564). The suite is about 600sqft, with some tapestry behind the bed, but overall the room has a pretty plain feeling. Unfortunately, my room was in a bit of disrepair and not cleaned well -- the sliding door lock was broken, curtains were mismatched and didn’t close all the way, the floor, furniture, and printed materials all had stains, and there was visible dirt laying on the floor (hair, crumbs, dead bugs). I didn’t want to complain, especially seeing that staff were so friendly, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the condition of the room.

Breakfast was very good for a Four Points -- I rarely stay at this brand, but had a couple of surprisingly good breakfast buffets in the last few months (here and Hakodate). I also ordered room service one night -- acceptable and very reasonably priced. Drinks at the rooftop bar were ok -- a surprisingly creative drink list (for a Four Points), and there’s a happy hour between 5 and 7 (so it’s easy to swing by after the 4-6 happy hour at the W). The highlight of the stay wasn’t so much culinary as it was practical, though. When I’m on the road for many weeks at a time, I like to stay at places where I can do my own laundry every now and then. I thought I read that this hotel had a laundromat; it doesn’t, but their rates are super cheap (30 cents for a pair of socks), so for under $20, I had the entire contents of my suitcase washed.

The location, as others have pointed out, is not good. The road is very narrow, and currently under construction. With traffic, it’s no fun to walk. The ocean (and W/Potato Head/etc) is about 7-10 minutes away, but it’s not a pretty walk -- including a very narrow pathway that’s unlit after dark. I still found it pretty easy to get around, but I understand why a lot of people would find the location off-putting. I think Seminyak has a lot to offer, and this hotel is certainly an option worth considering for a cheap stay -- rates often in the 600-800k IDR range make this good value for budget-minded Plats.

Given the location and the road construction, is it difficult to get a taxi/uber?

"No Uber/Grab" signs are posted at the entry to the road (common in Bali), and one Uber driver told me he's not allowed to enter (but did anyway). Using Uber in Bali can be a bit challenging; they'll accept and then no-show or get stuck in traffic. It can take a bit of playing catch/release. The hotel can easily call you a taxi within a few minutes. I wouldn't cut it too close on the way to the airport, but for getting around by car, the 4P location is no worse than any other Seminyak location. It's the walking that's challenging.

I have no issue to get uber at this hotel. But it is better to be a bit discreet to use uber in bali. Don't say you are waiting for uber, just say you are waiting to be picked up by someone.

The best is get local sim card. after you book the uber, call the driver and tell him where are you.

Anybody stayed recently? how is the road situation (toward beach) now?
