Just had 5 nights stay at Roomers Baden-Baden by using 5 night CAT5 certificate from the 235K travel package. And I have to say that I am so impressed by this new property. The hotel itself is brand new and very well and tasteful designed with Italian and Asia elements. At the same time the service level from front desk and restaurant is absolutely the top in Europe. The whole stay made me feel like in Asia

As Platinum member, the room was upgraded to Junior Suite. And the room was already prepared when I checked in around 11 am in the morning. Breakfast is complimentary for P/G members as well. The bar and swimming pool on the top roof are the highlights with stunning view of the city.

It's probably the best CAT 5 redemption from my point of view and I will definetly come back to Roomers Baden-baden again in next summer.

For the holidays this year, I spent two weeks at various Marriott properties in the UK, France, and Germany, including 3 nights at the Roomers Baden-Baden. It is in my Top 10 Marriott properties, for sure. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite as well, with a city view. The room was very large - and probably seemed especially spacious because I was coming off a stay at St. Ermin's in London which has tiny rooms.

Roomers had a very distinct vibe - sort of a mix between a W hotel and an AC hotel - if that rings any bells. Very modern, but luxurious and super cool at the same time. I did not use the spa while I was there (because the spas in town were amazing) but the rooftop area is very beautiful, as previously noted. The hotel restaurant is Japanese and very, very good. I had lunch there, as well as room service, and was very pleased. Ironically, nothing beat an exquisite bowl of miso soup on a freezing cold German day.

Breakfast was a full spread - very typical European (meats, cheeses, pastries, fish) but presented in a spectacular manner on a long table running the length of the room practically. Lots of fresh-squeezed juices, and good coffee as well. My favorite item - just for the sheer drama of it - was the huge chunk of fresh honeycomb from which guests could carve off pieces. I'm not big on honey, but it was cool for the display purposes.

Staff was very nice - almost too nice, as upon check-in not one but two staff members escorted me to my room and gave me a thorough walk-through to show off each and every feature (here is the safe, here you can hang up your clothes, etc - yup, got it!) in excruciating detail. The bed was the most comfortable I'd had during my whole trip and the bathroom had a full tub, which I loved. My one, small complaint is that the toiletries were the large, pump bottles that you can't take with you. As someone who hoards upscale hotel toiletries (to a probably-unhealthy degree), this was a huge bummer. The other thing that threw me off the door ... I don't know how to explain it properly, but it was completely flat (flush with the wall) and keyless, and I could never figure out if the deadbolt was properly on or not. That might just be user error, but it was unsettling to be a female solo traveler and never sure if your door was locked or not. (To be fair, I didn't ask for clarification during the 15 minute tour of my room, and should have).

All in all, I can't recommend this hotel enough. The town of Baden-Baden is off the beaten path, but an absolute delight. I still can't believe this property is only a Category 5 - two of my nights were free using my credit card certs - so it was an amazing deal.

Staying here next week

Saving 200 Euro/night, rather than staying in Stuttgart (thank you Daimler..) - figured the drive was worth the money...

I'll report back if anything new

I just had an ad-hoc weekend at this location and I was so positively surprised!

Great staff, good location (short walk to the walking district), I consider 24€ per day for valet parking in Baden-Baden to be a steal, excellent food even though bit pricey! I totally recommend. Booked via amex travel and got upgraded from deluxe to the junior suite. Rooftop bar was popular among locals and it was difficult to find a table in the evening. Same goes for the restaurant, better to make a reservation.

We spend a few days there in August and had a mixed impression.

On arrival, nobody took notice of us, all the parking spots in front of the hotel were taken by Porsches and comparable brands. We were later informed that these were restaurant guests. Strange approach towards hotel guests arriving with a four year old. At check-in, the agent, who probably better spoke Russian than English or German, played the "we got you a wonderful upgrade to a Deluxe Junior Suite game" provoking my reply that I had booked and paid for a wonderful Deluxe Junior Suite. After a moment of silence he apologized and continued with the "unfortunately we have no upgrade available game". I love this game, too, since some agents believe that the internet and the smart phone might not have been invented. Playing this game with him and my iPhone, I politely informed him that at least four suite categories better than the wonderful Deluxe Junior Suite were available for our entire stay and after some heavy typing on the keyboard he managed to find us a wonderful full Deluxe Suite. To be very honest: A disgraceful game but a wonderfully designed suite. What the agent forgot and what was never offered or delivered was the welcome amenity due. Not any word about this.

For the next days I can second everything said before about F&B. Great restaurants, wonderful staff and top notch service. Close to perfect. Believe me.

The complete opposite, however, on the housekeeping end. Housekeeping was at the best sloppy, slow, did only half of the suite, forgot fresh towels, didn't empty the bins, didn't clean the tables and so on. You might know the experience: When traveling with a four year old it is sometimes very easy to detect where housekeeping did some work and where not. And it was obvious that there were more areas where they did not do any work than areas where they did do work.

The same is true for management. Invisible like ghosts during bright sunshine, even in extreme situations. And we had one of these: On the morning of day 1, the entire suite was flooded after using the wonderful rain shower for 15 minutes. Everything we had on the ground was soaked with water. Shoes, bags, our son's toys. We called housekeeping and in the end we had four people in the suite (no masks or other Corona protection) only for them to find out that they had deliberately blocked the drain for maintenance purposes so the water could not find it way to the sewage tunnel but only into the suite. Unbelievable. It took them quite a while to get the water off the ground, carpets and our stuff however still soaked with water. Nobody from management even cared about approaching us, nobody offered a new room, assistance with our wet possessions, nothing, nada, no reaction.

We mentioned this experience at checkout and the agent then offered to take off parking for two nights but quickly understood that I was not too happy with this. They then offered to take off an evening meal - well, better than nothing but I clearly told him this was not satisfactory as compensation for the experience and we would expect to receive a call from management which of course never happened.

To add even to the insult: In the car, my wife checked both, the reservation and the invoice, only to understand that they did not charge us the booked and confirmed AAA rate but something like rack-rate. Give that, we did a turnaround and went back to reception. After some heavy work on the computer, they corrected the invoice, again without offering any apologies. We asked the agent once again to inform management and that we would expect a call, which, of course, never happened.

Would we come back? Probably yes. Location is good, Restaurants are good, the hotel hardware is good. What they have, so our humble impression, are clear management issues. We further have doubts that we were in the hotel's target group. During our stay, Russian appeared to be the dominating language, certainly not English or German.

I'm curious if my stay overlapped with @flyinglawyer, but if it did, I had a better impression...

At 35,000 points this hotel is a steal. I booked last minute and was upgraded to a junior suite. Really just a larger standard room, but there was a nice sitting area, the bathroom was large and had two sinks, so I was satisfied with the upgrade.

The spa area on the top floor is great, or at least I liked it. The steam room was giant, the sauna was hot, the soaking pool was very relaxing, there was a huge outdoor patio, and self-serve Grey Goose Vodka was available next to the showers. The spa was open until 1:00 AM and I viewed it as a great way to wind down before bed. I did feel a little awkward jumping in the rooftop pool on Friday night as it sat in the middle of the rooftop bar, and people were dressed very nicely, but I was a guest and many of them weren't, so I'd definitely do it again.

Breakfast was a typical upscale German buffet. Food was good and fresh. They would generally make cappuccinos by hand, and there was self-serve sparkling wine. Along with welcome drinks, this property seemed to really like doling out free alcohol!

The hotel has plenty of recommendations for running, biking, and hiking. Personally, I can recommend the Geroldsau Waterfall Rundweg for those who like a short leisurely stroll in pretty scenery with some food and a few beers along the way.

There were a lot of families here, but honestly it didn't really seem all that family friendly to me. They really pushed the hotel's "sexiness," and were very forward about how clothing optional the spa was, of course normal in Germany, but I don't think meeting beautiful strangers was necessarily discouraged at the spa. Hey, if you get lucky, they had free condoms in the rooms!

Aesthetically, I thought the hotel was beautiful. I will 100% return, and I'd like to check out the Frankfurt and Munich properties as well. I'm quite shocked this hotel doesn't get more attention on the blogs because Baden Baden is a desirable location that's a short drive from many heavily visited and populated parts of Europe.

Echo the comments from Red Raider. Have stayed at this property pre-pandemic, and just spent a week there July/August. Have always loved the funkiness of this hotel, and as it is a reasonably easy train ride from Frankfurt, we generally spend our first week of our European vacations here to while away the jet lag. The town itself is interesting with lots of great restaurants - reservations for the good ones definitely needed well in advance during the high season. Lots of great hiking to be done, as well as lots of good day trips. Hotel is just a short walk to city center, but is a great quiet place to relax on the spa level deck with good views of the surrounding area. Have always stayed on the 4th floor for easy access to the gym and spa. As platinum elite, no suite upgrade this time as the hotel was fully booked for a large wedding. Did get the great breakfast buffet and cash credit though. Given the Covid restrictions in Germany, hotel did a great job of providing all services pretty seamlessly. Will definitely return.

Is there still free, self-serve Grey Goose vodka in the spa's panoramic terrace?
