Does all of this mean that the hotel is happening or not? Would be great to see the brand re-enter the Singaporean market!

It's a horrible location.

It's next to that ridiculous Lion-Mermaid that is an artificially concocted marketing symbol masquerading as a national emblem. I always think of Le Meridien as Starwood's classiest brand, but this is the most kitsch location imaginable.

(And it's not even the first Lion-Mermaid statue in Singapore. They are relying upon people being too young to know that the original one is currently next to the Fullerton Hotel.)

So it's like building a house that is white in Orlando and claiming that it is the White House.

SPG website now states opening on May 9, 2016. More choices for folks visiting Singapore, hope the prices are decent.

Amazing. It was only 2 years ago there were 2 properties in SIN. I'm surprised the growth is accelerating this year as ...

Given the island location, it is unlikely going to be decent. So far, the most "decent" priced SPG property in Singapore is usually Sheraton Towers but not always. I think the Four Points might be competitively priced but I also think the rooms will be small.

I agree. I doubt it will be anything below 300SGD on average, given that the W at it's lowest is about 360SGD

The current rates are about that and 10% less compared to the W.

I wouldn't think the rates will decrease after switching to SPG.

Latest Update: Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa is not searchable on spg.com, the hotel website on starwoodhotels.com has also been taken down, the last cached copy by google was on 1 May. No sign of the hotel on the global Le Meridien list as well.

Strange, I think I just saw it a couple days back.
It keeps appearing-disappearing.
Renovation/branding/training issues?

Have it on good authority that it will be "sometime in June". Rebranding is a big exercise.

I don't even think you could do any renovations in that short amount of time. They probably plan to do renovations in the future I guess.
