YES! This is a nice addition to the sparse offering of starwood in Germany!

Any trip reports from this property yet?

I have a award stay booked for Feb and would like to know what sort of plat recognition they have and their policy for breakfast on award stays.

Just completed an award stay there and have another one upcoming: Same as in any other design hotel, I have experienced so no plat recognition aside from the 500 pts amenity. No upgrades. Breakfast is excluded for any award stay at the Bachmair, costs are 29EUR p.P. if booked separately. Worth it IMHO, quality and variety of offering is really good. The breakfast restaurant will be like a zoo especially on Sundays (but they have an extension planned for late 2016, so you should be good for 02/2017).

The hotel itself is great. Beatiful property in a stunning environment. Spa (sometimes a bit crowded with families) and Restaurants both of very high quality. If searchin for a special treat nearby: Try the restaurant Ueberfahrt, located at the hotel with the same name. One of the best restaurants in Germany.

Hotel Bachmair Weissach

Intro

The hotel has a very special authentic atmosphere with high attention to details and some newer Japanese influence like the new Mizu Onzen Spa. A runnel flows through the hotel grounds. The runnel is  used to fill a small and icy "pool".

There are two outdoor pools: one pool is for families (+ children), the other pool is for adults only (brine pool). The indoor pool is for families (+ children). The Spa also consists of Saunas, wet sauna, cold and hot water basins.

Room

The room was a classic suite in a rural design with a sleeping and living room, a bathroom and a wardrobe. Minibar was free and filed daily.

Sleeping room is spartanic with bed and TV.

Living room has sitting areas, closets, safe, TV, Coffee maker.

Bathroom had a large shower and amenities from Etro.

I enjoyed the stay very much and will definitely come back.

Dining

There are two main restaurants. One restaurant serves local Bavarian cuisine (eg Schnitzel, trout/charr from a nearby fish farm in Kreuth) and the other restaurant serves Japanese food.

Drinks and snacks are available at the bar, too. There is also a small bar in the Spa serving some special food like alga/chlorella salad, sushi, matcha cake, quinoa salad, fruits, etc.

A (complimentary) local snack"Brettl-Jause" is available daily at the bar in the late afternoon.

The breakfast is served in the pavilion. The quality of the food is exceptional, e.g. pretzels are baked in the hotel. Nowadays you hardly get a pretzel from a bakery that does not use industry-prepared dough. Green smoothies, vegetable juices, fruit juices, Bavarian veal sausages, etc are part of the breakfast. There is also an outdoor sitting area.

Tegernsee: 2-3km. The hotel plans to open some space at "Ringsee" which is a part of Tegernsee. That might become a nice location with sun loungers during summer time.
Munich: Distance from Munich is difficult to answer as it depends on your start location. Munich airport is around 100km away. Munich center around 50-60km.

I had a pleasant stay here during Christmas 2016. Agree breakfast buffet is very high quality. Definitely take advantage of the complimentary afternoon savory buffet (excellent bread, meats, and cheeses; drinks at cost).

Great complimentary kids club with huge indoor play space and very caring child minders. During German school holidays, they set up an impresseive dinner buffet just for kids in the kids club. I saw one child minder sitting one on one with my 2 year old daughter trying to feed her. Very impressive.

We took the suburban train from Munich HBF. The hotel sent over the hotel Mercedes van to pick us up at the Tegernsee train station for no charge (upon prior arrangement).
