As per https://www.starwoodhotels.com/tribu...language=en_US :

The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.

SLS Las Vegas joined SPG in December 2015, having previously being a Hilton Curio (see this thread in the FT Hilton forum.)

Pre-opening discussion is here.

Opening promotion : Celebrate SLS Las Vegas. Register & pick your card to reveal your offer.

The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.

Shuttle from the LAS Airport stops at 8PM, and is not free for guests to take as of April 1st, 2016. Call property for updates and more info as they don't have it posted on their website.

Don't drink what dairy or Alcohol? If so, do you drink coffee or similar (iced latte, soy latte, etc.) beverages? As mentioned earlier, The Perq is a Coffee Counter across the hall from the front desk serving very high quality espresso and the certificates are good there too. @:-)

[QUOTE=Eujeanie;26348612]First of all, there is not a casino resort (or not many) that do not charge this useless resort fee, so I'd be interested in "where else" people go to get away from paying it. "

Exactly! ALL of the big strip hotels (as well as most of the off- strip casino/hotels) charge a resort fee. I was charged $28 at the Luxor for basically nothing since there is no WiFi in the rooms. Avoiding this property because they charge a resort fee? Well enjoy your stay at the Four Points or the Element then but forget about staying on the strip- and good luck in finding a room in a decent non-casino hotel for less than $79 (The $49 mid week rate plus the $30 resort fee at the SLS) . Per night.

Do I like these "resort" fees- of course not. But I just think about them as a part of the cost of staying in a hotel and I get over it.

One of the "Amex Offers" is "SLS Las Vegas stay 3 nights $100 Resort Fee Credit" until 6/1/16.

I have it on 3 cards, not SPG though.

Not sure if I read it here or somewhere else, but they are all going to start charging for parking, too (I think Mlife will be the first, but I'm sure the others will follow suit. They are making it harder for us to want to come and lose our money! So with the SLS including a shuttle in their resort fee, they might turn out to have an edge!

i agree....i'll end up spending $35-$40 for taxi rides to & fro so the resort fee is not too bad....

Except you pay the resort fee every day! Shuttle to the airport is only used once in each direction.

only staying one night so it works out quite well for me....

i have an amazing $29 brg rate....so the $30 resort fee will actually save me a little money since i won't have to pay for a cab or uber to get to the property & back to the airport....

Yes, you pay the resort fee every night...at almost every Vegas casino hotel.

You know what we got for it at Paris? Let me think...wifi, phone calls, and fitness center access. Mlife properties are just as pathetic, but I think we usually get a newspaper there. We'd joke about going to get our $30 newspaper.

We didn't even use the shuttle at SLS so we didn't "use" any of their stuff, either (wait, water in the room, big deal).

It's a horrible scam that has been going on for a long time now, you just deal with it. You either go to Vegas and pay it, or don't go, or stay in a Hampton Inn nearby.

Or gamble enough that they remove it. Which can cost a LOT more than $30/day.

The SLS shuttle only runs once an hour, so if you 'just miss it' (like I did), you have to decide whether to wait out the 45-50 minutes for the next shuttle, or take a taxi/uber. I "guilted" myself into waiting for the shuttle since I justified it through the resort fee.

How does one's SPG number "disappear" between making the reservation directly on the SPG website and the hotel stay? I never bothered to look at the folio that closely, but now that more than a week has gone by I did the "missing stay" e-mail, and was told my SPG number was not on the reservation, but they did find it.

I now have to send them the folio, etc. What a pain.

What I'm also concerned about is even if they do give me the points (and I hope it's the 3x that was the offer I booked), what about the bonus 500 I got from unveiling the magic door or whatever that promotion was...I thought it would be hooked to my account, but since it isn't, how do I make sure I get those points?

Between the problems with the key, the uncredited credit, and now this, I'm getting a very bad memory of what was a nice stay.

Well good news and bad news.

They have been very prompt in looking into this and crediting me with the missing points.

The bad news is they gave me the wrong amount of points. Seems I was not given the 3x offer on the room rate that I booked.

And I'm sure getting my 500 point "unlock your offer" points will be a real problem since my spg number had become separated from my reservation.

William or anyone, what should I do now? I tried sending an e-mail response to the one that told me the points were credited, but it was one of those black hole "you can't respond to this e-mail" situations.

I have three rooms booked here for a stay soon. So far I have had my spg number disappear from first ONE reservation then a second one...

Very frustrating and something that has not happened before...

The hotel also sent me a email stating the deposit would be 729$ per night, I raised a complaint about this and got a reply that no sucj amount is debited but no explanation from the hotel why they sent the email!

I hope the stay itself goes better!
