As per https://www.starwoodhotels.com/tribu...language=en_US :

The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.

SLS Las Vegas joined SPG in December 2015, having previously being a Hilton Curio (see this thread in the FT Hilton forum.)

Pre-opening discussion is here.

Opening promotion : Celebrate SLS Las Vegas. Register & pick your card to reveal your offer.

The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.

Shuttle from the LAS Airport stops at 8PM, and is not free for guests to take as of April 1st, 2016. Call property for updates and more info as they don't have it posted on their website.

Stayed at this property a few days ago and had an excellent stay. Staff were polite and helpful across the board, booked a base room in the Lux Tower and got upgraded to a suite in the same tower and no issues with 4pm late checkout, and rooms are well furnished and decently quiet. Reception lines can be huge at peak time, so the dedicated SPG queue certainly helps.

I also liked that the SPG Plat breakfast is available 24/7 rather than just between breakfast hours. The breakfast is served at the Northside Cafe (link to menu here), where you can choose either the standard continental breakfast ($14.95) or have $15 worth of credit applied per person to the bill. Most of the options are under $15 anyway, so I think this is a great offer.

Here's a photo of the SLS's complimentary shuttle service to McCarran Airport as of the start of March 2016, as I noticed a few people weren't too sure of the times in here.

For the price you can get some of these rooms at, I think this property is a great deal.

I found a rate later this month (Sunday night) at $45/night which seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately, I found out there is a $30 resort fee / night for "in-room Internet access, local and toll-free phone calls, 2 bottles of water in room upon arrival, Concierge Services, and Parking (Self- & Valet)".

I figured I'd call and ask if this gets waved for Platinum members since most of those things are free anyways and the response I got was ""under no circumstance is the resort fee waved for Platinum members".

In conclusion, I will not be staying there. I don't care about the $30, I care about the fact that they want to charge me for things that are either already free for me (water/internet) or I won't use (local phone calls / parking).

If you are only staying one night, perhaps the alternative amenity would help alleviate the $30 charge.

Just to clarify: Platinum members are given two drink vouchers (up to $15 each - tips are extra) that can be used at the Monkey Bar or The Perq upon check-in as the alternative amenity. I don't drink so that's absolutely useless for me and I basically pay the $30 resort fee for nothing.

Which means if a Platinum guest stays more than one night, there is only the one-time $30 in drink coupons to help offset the $30 in resort fees that are charged each night.

It's the alternate amenity offered to Platinum guests because the resort fee, which is not waived for Platinum guests, includes internet access which is already a guaranteed Platinum amenity.

If I book three rooms for myself at this hotel would the resort fee be charged for each room or not? Figured these would be some cheap stay credits for sure just incase

Each room would be subject to being charged a resort charge.

Ditto. My rate was substantially higher than $45 per night (approx $150) and I was booking 2 nights, but I won't pay this fee. So I went elsewhere. Business decision made by the hotel; business decision made by me.

First of all, there is not a casino resort (or not many) that do not charge this useless resort fee, so I'd be interested in "where else" people go to get away from paying it.

That said, we just spent one night at the SLS before moving on to another property (Paris, a CET property, which also charges a resort fee).

Anyway, our stay was...different.

The good outweighed the bad, but it was very interesting to these oldies (we're in our 60s, go to Vegas a lot, and are not the trendy demographic the SLS seems to be aiming for), but we had a great time.

We reserved and got a Story tower room for $55 plus resort fee (and 3x Spg points).

Got a big laugh about the room with the mirrored ceiling (perched onto the cement of the ceiling), the bed that was in the middle of the room (yes you could walk all the way around it), the bright, bright yellow tile of the bathroom (which had a ridiculous set-up - all in back of the bed - the w/c with a huge sliding mirrored door that, when opened, blocked the TINY sink that was right in back of the headboard of the bed, so if you get up in the night the running water can disturb who is sleeping), and the other huge mirrored door leading to the shower, which when opened blocks the hall to the entry door...not a great design.

The foot of the bed faced the one window which had the couch in front of it. The huge tv was suspended at an angle from the wall on the side, so very awkward to view it from anywhere - and easy to crack into it when walking on that side of the room.

And oh yes, the bed...surrounded by a Lucite/plastic "cradle" which served as both headboard and nightstands (tiny nightstands)...and lit up to give the whole room an eerie glow. Definitely going for some sort of sexy vibe, which, while we could appreciate that, was really ill designed. We were very happy to get to the "normal" Paris hotel which had the bed, tv, and bathroom all in the right places.

We ate dinner at Cleo and had a wonderful, different meal. Went around and looked at the other restaurants and really liked what we saw. The casino had a nice vibe to it, small and friendly. Everyone we encountered was really friendly and nice.

Would we stay there again? Maybe. It does suffer from the bad location, but if we ever needed to add a night on to our usual stay in the main part of the Strip we might consider it again.

Edit: in case anyone is wondering, we are only Gold so did not expect nor get any sort of upgrade. We were supposed to pay the resort fee, but when we first checked in the girl wrote the WRONG ROOM NUMBER on our key jacket, verbally told us the wrong number, so after trying and trying to get into the wrong room, calling the front desk, eliciting the help of a housekeeper in the hallway, being told to call security, she finally figured out what was wrong, we got the correct room number (which of course then worked fine), so for our trouble she said she was going to give us a $25 F&B credit...when that did not show up on our bill the next morning, the check-out girl said it was easier for her to just remove the resort fee, which actually was a slightly better savings for us.

Just stayed here last night and got a creepy vibe from the aesthetics of the whole place. Mirrors everywhere, yellow tiled bathroom without a sink, dark color schemes. I felt like I was in that hotel from The Shining.

If you book your stay through the SPG website and while your are there. A casino host rates your play and decides to comp some of your nights stay. I know it can't be done if you booked through orbits or expedia. Can it be done if you book through SPG or do you have to book it though SLS?

Thanks

When I try to book through sls it automatically jumps to spg - that doesn't happen for you?
