The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.
SLS Las Vegas joined SPG in December 2015, having previously being a Hilton Curio (see this thread in the FT Hilton forum.)
The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.
Shuttle from the LAS Airport stops at 8PM, and is not free for guests to take as of April 1st, 2016. Call property for updates and more info as they don't have it posted on their website.
SLS Las Vegas NV, LEAVING SPG/Marriott Aug 17, 2018 [Master Thread]
Might be a bit too soon, but are there any indications as to how the hotel is doing since moving over to Starwood? Could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that they were also building a new convention center in the hotel, or next to it? But as I say, could be wrong on that.
Quick question, is 4pm check-out offered to spg elite at the SLS or will it require additional payment with it being a resort?
It is subject to availability because the property is a resort; however, if it is available, they are supposed to honor the benefit. They would have a really hard time explaining to SPG customer service that it was available for a price, but not available as an elite member benefit. It's either available or it isn't.

Devil's advocate here, and Mods feel free to move this if needed. If this (or any) resort property uses the "subject to availability" reasoning to deny a 4pm late checkout, but it is in fact available, is there anything that that can be done to actually verify availability post hoc? And if so, is there actually any recourse?

If you feel you have proof of availability, then I would encourage you to file a formal complaint with Corporate Customer Service.

SLS Las Vegas- now a Starwood Tribute property. Really great service. (0 Photo)
SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino
I had a really nice stay at the SLS Las Vegas. Service was some of the best I have recieved in Las Vegas. I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite in the LUX tower (which is becoming the W) and given points and water as an amenity/thank you gift. The staff seemed excited about joining the Starwood program
The room is very "stage like" in it's decor with printed canvas wall coverings and a lot of mirriors (including one over the bed!) which will NOT be to everyone's taste. I liked it- something fun and different IMO. The bed was super comfortable. Room furnishing were quirky but of good quality. Bed and bath linens were of really good quality.Everything in the room was in great shape and the room was super clean.
I had breakfast twice in the Northside Cafe- which has replaced the Gridde Cafe as the 24 hour diner. Both meals were of good quality and only a bit pricier than a breakfast in a similiar restaurant outside of a hotel. I can recommend the Huevos Rancheros.
Parking was easy in the garage, Valet was quick when we used it.
I am so happy to have a decent SPG property on the Las Vegas strip once again.
I just stayed at the hotel. Overall was impressed. Front desk service was not consistent. I had to ask for an upgrade which knew there were better rooms. Gave me a better room and lady at starwood desk said she was sorry she was just tired. I didn't have to ask for late checkout, she just gave it to me. Do believe they could do a better job taking care of Platinum members. Overall a good experience.

I stayed here last weekend and was super impressed. Really modern property, great restaurants, gorgeous rooms and managed a 9am check in and 4pm check out. Staff were friendly and got a nice suite in the corner of the luxury tower. I am looking forward to staying here again.
