Sheraton Diana Majestic, Milan, Italy [Master Thread]
Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Diana Majestic, Milan ? I'm planning a trip in Feb/March, so any information about the quality of this hotel, the service, and the *wood Gold recognition would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance ! P.S.: I did a search, but there is not a lot of comments about that hotel... |
It's been a while though, the room is O.K., but the views from the hotel is limited since it's not a high-rise. Location wise, it's a bit off-center and the hotel is located in like a more residential area than commcercial. The service is good, no extravagant upgrade, the breakfast is not bad per int'l standard but you have to pay for it. There are better hotels in Milan.

They are stingy on upgrades, but in warmer months models hang out in their garden bar, I've had a few mosquito bites to prove it.

Thanks !
And what's the average price of the breakfast ? I tried to contact the hotel by email but they didn't respond... That's not a nice "Sheraton attitude".... |
I stayed there last week. If you are Platinum and are looking for an upgrade to the best available room, don't count on it. They will typically upgrade you to one level above your booked room type. So, if you book a room with single bed and a street view, you would get a room with a single bed and a garden view. They would then say that there are no rooms left with double or king bed to upgrade you to. However, when you check the Starwood reservation site, you can easily book any type of room you wish. As I was not spending a lot of time in the room, I decided not pursue further discussion.
In terms of atmosphere, this hotel reminds me a lot of a typical "W" hotel. It is hip and trendy. The hotel restaurant is nice, food is excellent and pricey. If you book a room rate that does not include breakfast, a buffet breakfast costs 36 Euro (but it has a nice selection). I would recommend the Westin Palace over this hotel any time. They are more appreciative of Platinum members. Price wise, it is in the same range. |
Last time I was there, I was lied to about upgrades. My friend and I (females - two Plats) checked in and were told "no upgrade rooms available" - to the twin bedded street view we were banished.
Directly behind us in line were two other friends who checked in with the same agent (males - one Plat, one nothing). They got a full-on suite "big enough to bowl in". The whole checkin fiasco followed by 3 undelivered phone messages, one botched dinner reservation and a non-functional phone. Never again. |
Bad experience at Sheraton Diana Majestic Milano
Hi all,
I had a very bad stay at The Sheraton Diana Majestic in Milano. Despite having paid USD 330 for a double room, I found this property really in bad condition. The room was incredibly dirty with dust everywhere, the wallpaper, falling down, no way to get on the balcony, cobwebs everywhere . I sent a letter to SPG customer service and 10 days later, I received a communication from the Hotel general manager saying "......finding small problems, is not so uncommon...." I again sent a letter to SPG customer service explaining that I was not completely satisfied of the GM message but they told me that the file was closed, so no way for further investigations. I'm SPG Gold member, I think I will switch my stays to other chains. For 330 USD, I want a nice and clean room, c'mon, 330 USD !!! Below are some photos I took in my room which have been sent to SPG customer service. http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy054.JPG http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy052.JPG http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy050.jpg http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy046.jpg http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy043.jpg http://www.aviationjet.com/xzyxzyy040.jpg What do you think? I tend to agree about the room conditions, and the managers are pretty snobbish, but those models that hang out in their courtyard lounge make me forget about the bad rooms and bad behavior...the rooms may not be majestic, but those babes are magnifique...

I think its not bad, but for 330 bucks its not great. Depends on what hotels in that region offer for the same price. If that is the norm, I think there is not much you can do but file a complaint. I have seen SPG hotels in far far worse shape.

this is the hotel i avoid in milan, it is old dusty and grotty. the service is just not friendly and the location is poor.

Last week I stayed at the Hotel Serento in Seattle and when I was waiting for the elevator I noticed on a maid cart a small can of white paint and disposable brushes wrapped up in rubber bands with all the other cleaning gear. I assume the cleaning folks do touch-ups on base boards and door frames with a quick dry latex - it shows as the rooms are perfect ! I've stayed at Luxury C. hotels that must do the same thing.

Plat "Upgrade" Sheraton Milan
I was just "upgraded" to a "French bed" (twin?) when my reservation stated queen, in a room smaller than most bathrooms. Think twice before staying here.

Aside from the bed issue, I agree that it's always disappointing to not receive an upgrade reflecting your status. But the important thing to remember is that upgrade is not guaranteed. Last week was the accessories fair and fashion week is now starting in Milan. You are also staying at a hotel that happens to be a favorite of the fashion crowd. Rooms are very hard to come by in all of Milan during this two week period and every decent hotel is running at full occupancy and then some. Even if there are rooms available at the Sheraton, it's 99% likely that their inventory consists only of smaller, standard rooms - the fashion magazine editors and their assorted assistants tend to book larger rooms and suites. |
