Fadi, thank you so much for registering on FT and bringing us this report.

The bad news is the hotel may not yet be participating in spg.

I made a reservation for December via email and the confirmation says:

"Note, for temporary we do not access for all about SPG "

As this is not really clear, I've emailed back to check.

Or perhaps Starwood Lurker II/I could give us the heads up?

This hotel has not yet officially re-opened as a part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Until they do, you can consider them as non-participating in Starwood Preferred Guest.

Thanks for the information. So my next question is does the hotel have an 'opening' date?

As their local advertising is using the both the terms spg and, obviously Sheraton, I can imagine that that there may be confusion about this issue. It seems strange to me, at least, that a hotel can be open and called a Sheraton but not be part of Starwood (As opposed to not participating in spg).

Maybe spg could work with the hotel so the message they post on booking confirmations is clearer about this?

To be determined

Mustika SPG Yet?

It has been a while since I have seen any update from Starwood as to when the Sheraton Mustika will be up an running with SPG. I still see that the hotel is listed as closed on SPG.com, but the hotel has been reopened for a while and the new pictures of the updates seem quite nice. I would stay there on an upcomming trip, but if it still ins't going to earn me SPG points it is hard not to stay with the Grand Mercure, which is cheaper, closer to the city and earns Accor points.

Hopefully Starwwod can give an update on this?

Thanks

The update that was given last September is still in effect now.

Dear all,

Besides the status that the property is not participating in SPG, I would also like to add that you would not be able to reserve a room by calling up your nearest Starwood Customer Contact Centre or by booking through our Starwood websites.

Do drop me a note if you require any assistance.

It's back on the SPG website now

Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta is back on the SPG website. However, they are still using the old pictures of the hotel. Maybe Starwood can tell us when the new photos will be uploaded. Anyway, they have some interesting offers like Reopening Package and Honeymooners Delight. I'm so excited coz I'll be in Yogyakarta for a holiday in June and for sure wanna try this newly refurbished hotel....

Dearest indo-travel,

Currently, I am only able to provide two aspects of the property's re-opening:

1. The property was reconnected to the Starwood Reservation system as of April 27, 2009 and is now running live once again across all channels(CCC, spg.com etc)

2. The website is being updated as we speak with new photography and descriptions, and should be up to date in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

No updates on SPG participation, Starwood Preferred planner, Starchoice as yet.

That's a step closer!

It is showing up as redeemable for points for stays in July.

So I guess that means they are participating in SPG to that extent, anyway.

It's worth noting that the "Reopening package rates" are only available to Indonesian citizens or permanent residents (KIMS/KITAS holders).

It would seem to me to be asking for trouble to have restricted rates like these bookable on spg.com without highlighting it very, very clearly.

The website does not say no spg participation.
Its listed as Cat 1.

Right....I've re-checked on SPG web, they're now accepting Starpoints redemption again. For as little as 2,000 points (weekends) and 3,000 points (weekdays) you can have a free night stay at the resort. Truly an offer that's hard to resist.....^^

Anyone stayed here since the "reopening?"

If not, I will make sure to provide an update after my mid-August stay. :D
