Is this the most central Marriott property in Taipei? And at the risk of sounding very naďve, is Aloft Starwood's Moxy?

imho, the Westin Taipei is the most central Starriott property (although it’s deflagging end of the year). Then followed by the Aloft, Sheraton, W, and Le Meridien. The Marriott and Courtyard is a little out of the way on MRT line and Beitou is just out there but cheap at category 1.

Turned into a quarantine hotel

This property (like the Aloft Beitou) has turned into a quarantine hotel. Rooms are not much bigger than Aloft Beitou although there are suites here with balconies for some fresh air.

Prices are 30% higher than Aloft Beitou. Do they provide elite perks, such as suite upgrades, for quarantine package stays?

don’t count on it especially if you want one of the limited balcony rooms at this property.

Staying here now on a five night last minute booking as the Sheraton was booked up. Was pleasantly surprised as our flight landed at 7am, requested early check in and got it. Pretty good recognition as I'm a titanium and booked a double twin room but got upgraded to the double queen room. They have a nice tent for toddlers. Room is quite spacious.

Their restaurant on the 17th floor between breakfast and dinner is sort of a mini lounge with free bottled water and a few light snacks. looking forward to tomorrow's breakfast!

Does anyone have an email address for this property?

Looking to stay here with an 18 month old baby, was wondering what their policy was with regards to having children.

Currently booked into a king size room as 2 adults only.

Hi pentiumvi,

According to the information we have, the hotel can provide complimentary traditional crib.

You may contact the hotel via this email address: [email protected]

Can confirm no problems with kids. Currently travelling with 2 under 3 and they were very accommodating.

Update on breakfast.

Pretty decent selection of western and eastern dishes. Rotated daily so haven't gotten sick of it yet and we are on day 3. Usually a congee, dimsum, a fried noodle, two fried dishes (has browns, etc) sausage, bacon, eggs made two kinds, chines meat dish, chines veggie dish. Juice, milk, bread, fruit and light salad bar.

Just checked out after a 4-night stay.

Myself titanium, traveling with a platinum. Checked in at the same time - platinum got a bigger room (xx08) than I did (xx03). The xx03 seems to be the smallest room type. I did get 2 beers as welcome gift vs. 1 beer for plat. Plat chose breakfast amenity (since it's good for 2) and I got the extra points.

Breakfast was a small selection, but adequate. Location was ok for what I was doing. Proximity to TSA was a plus.

I'm visiting Taipei as a tourist in April. I've narrowed down my options to this property ($155) or the Sheraton ($210). How does the location and surrounding area compare between the two? I want to be able to grab meals from the are around the property without having to hop on the train. 15 minute walks are acceptable.

I would say both are not bad. Overall Sheraton is probably slightly better. If you like night markets though the Aloft is literally half a block away from the Shuangcheng St. night market. Both are about equidistant from the bustling Linsen N. / Nanjing Rd area.

Food is never more than 15 minute away in Taipei

I think the ALoft's immediate area is more fun while the Sheraton is surrounded by a lot of government offices - across from the National Police HQ, 2 blocks from the National Legislature, on and on and on...

I would say the Sheraton's location is better but not US$55/night + 10% better. However, if you have Platinum or above status with Marriott, consider that too. I suppose the Sheraton has a lounge.

The Sheraton is right next to the Blue Line which takes you to many places. It is more "centered" in core Taipei than the ALoft.

Remember to sign up for the drawing: https://5000.taiwan.net.tw/index_en.html - it is government sponsored and you must sign up prior to arrival. Then you go play the lottery at the airport to see if you win anything. Some people have won NT$5000 in the form of a prepaid stored value card accepted at many places.

Sheraton itself has food offering in the lounge if you have access to that and would like to take advantage. The morning and evening offerings are decent and are definitely plenty. There is also snack in the afternoon plus drinks all day. But for food outside of hotel, I would choose Aloft ZS as there is a wider variety (price and choice) within closer vicinity of Aloft. The area is more lively as well compared to Sheraton.
