As of February 2019 this hotel no longer offers club lounge access to Marriott Platinum and higher guests, even if upgraded to a room category which would otherwise offer lounge access, so lounge access mentioned in older reviews would no longer apply.
The hotel also no longer participates in Suite Night Awards.
Breakfast offering for Platinum and higher is in restaurant, buffet plus made to order eggs.

Thanks. Great idea. I will call the hotel. Maybe they will be kind enough to take note and then UG us to a large suite. Always think glass half full, right?

I regret choosing 10 SNAs as my "reward" when I can't even use it for a prepaid stay anymore, and with individual hotels having the flexibility to pick and choose what Plat benefits they design to honour
They are no longer participating, so the request is no longer valid and one of two things are going to happen:
You keep the request in tact and the system will cancel them - probably at day one of the run - and return them to your account.
You cancel the request voluntarily and they are returned to your account now.
The hotel has nothing to do with this automated process, but you will still be eligible for any in-house elite member benefits upon arrival; one of which is a possible upgrade to a suite.

I believe there's extensive discussion in this thread already about sharing a room with children.

The hotel is not talking SNA at the moment, so how would you know that suite is part of a SNA pool.
Beside that, even if the suite type was part of SNA option, that does not mean it is defined as a Standard Suite. Some hotels even offer Presidential Suites as an SNA option.
What would be great is a list of room types, that are available for complimentary upgrades.

I have traveled to Japan a few times over the last few years but all of them were on my own for business. This is the first time I am traveling with my family. Totally out of my elements when it comes to traveling with children (and the whole family for that matter).

Though before anyone blames this too much on Marriott, technically the SPG T&Cs only entitled Plats to lounge access at Sheratons, Westins, and Le Meridiens. Said nothing about Luxury Collection, so they were in theory within their rights to have this change under SPG as well. (That said I suspect there was an SPG culture of encouraging hotels to be generous with elites while the current regime clearly cannot be bothered to encourage hotels to do anything...)
I'd have to think about it but assuming they're still offering full restaurant breakfast as a platinum amenity choice, I think I'd still recommend this as a Tokyo hotel. Definitely would recommend over the Ritz anyway, since Ritz wouldn't give elites any breakfast, and as I posted above I much prefer the hard product of the PG.

Check T&C of new Marriott..club lounge access not providing at W , Ritz, Edition...and Luxury collection.
Probably more and more LC hotels in Asia with a lounge will not allow Plat above member to using club lounge in the future?

I'll be at the hotel in half a day or so and I'll confirm. I have an email from them saying I'd have lounge access so I expect them to honor it regardless of policy changes since then.
Also if this is the case, any upgrade will still end up giving you club access since every room that isn't the base Superior/Deluxe has club access.

IIRC SPG did give Plats LC lounge access, but it was changed a few years ago, maybe around the beginning of the merger, although there were never a lot of LCs that had lounges (and no Ws that I'm aware of). The Nines in Portland was an example in the USA, an their lounge included some interesting local wines, definitely about the normal USA lounge. The Singapore StR never had a lounge, but they did a daily Plat happy hour or drink and appetizer of the day in their lobby bar (in addition to a daily wine tasting with cheese in their wine room that was free for all) the first couple years they were open. Without these perks, the Singapore Westin and other choices began to seem more attractive.
If the PG really does not give elites lounge access and doesn't participate in the SNA program, I'm not sure I see why they would really want to be in Starriott. Prince is already a chain (with its own loyalty program) in Japan, although this is arguably their flagship property. [The other Prince property that participates in Starriott would probably be considered their second best hotel in Tokyo.]
If it's true, then the Andaz clearly dominates or one could go with the PH in Tokyo.....or a some independent hotels start to look more attractive.

Not too surprisingly given this policy change coincides with the launch of Bonvoy. However, if they continue to offer free breakfast to elites, I wouldn't view this as a huge loss. The evening reception isn't that great anyway, and hey you're in Tokyo of all places.
