Sheraton At The Falls

(My post relates to the Sheraton AT the falls in New York state, not the Sheraton ON the falls in Ontario.)

I stayed there in June. I had a problem that the hotel failed to address. Or respond to. Or acknowledge.
The day after I checked out, I got a form letter from their admin staff that they really wanted to hear about our stay. I responded.
It's August now. I'm still waiting for a reply from the hotel. I'll let you know if I get one.

I strongly recommend either Ontario property.

Nice upgrades for Plat as usual

Went from lowest room type to Deluxe Fallsview 2 days prior to check-in. They actively look to upgrade Platinums, or least they have each time i've gone in the past few years (always gotten the upgrade to Deluxe Fallsview).

We had a great stay in this hotel late June, 2011. Got upgraded to corner suite with beautiful Niagara fall view. Suite is a big studio type room with two seperate sitting areas, One viewing the fall, and the other with city view. Bath room also has great fall view and jacuzzi. Staff are really friendly and trying to help. Called them prior to check in and told them we would be very late (1am check actually) due to flight delay. They hold the suite for us and had key ready when we arrived. Location is really excellent for viewing and listening to the roaring falls. It's magical to experience falls from your private suite while enjoying breakfast by the little fireplace. My kid enjoyed their on site water park also. They offer discount to hotel guess and everything got charged to room. Really convinent. We definitely will stay here again when we are in the area.

Can report back on my stay which occurred last week.

The view from a Deluxe Fallsview room in this hotel is definitely superb and I'm sure it surpasses any Fallsview room in any other hotel because of the location of this hotel. We had a room on the 19th Floor, front and center and really enjoyed waking up to a spectacular view of both Falls plus Oakes Garden down below. The room was large with a separate sitting area in the same room as the beds, with a couch (that could be opened to a bed so you can sleep more people in this room if necessary). The location of this hotel at the bottom of Clifton Hill, across Oakes Garden, and near Rainbow bridge, is really a fabulous location to be in.

Here's the big BUT: every time the air condition went on it emitted a musty odor into the room. It wasn't extremely strong, but it bothered us - the housekeeping maid we notified as soon as we walked into the room, didn't smell anything but sprayed Lysol all over. This helped in the short term, but it was only until later that we figured out the small was coming from the A/C. We're not the type to create a ruckus, so since it was bearable and we weren't staying there all day anyway, we didn't ask to change rooms. When the A/C was off and we opened the full-length glass door to view the falls and let in some fresh air, you didn't smell anything at all and the view was terrific and very pleasant to see from your room.

I would stay in this hotel again, especially due to it's very central location, but if this odor business happens to us again, I will probably yes do something about it, rather than living with it again, and ask them to change to a different room.

Just stayed here this past weekend (Friday-Monday) using my free resort nights. Since it was Columbus Day and Thanksgiving, the hotel was full and they were unable to upgrade us until Sunday night. While it was a bit of a pain having to pack our stuff up a day early, the view from our corner suite was definitely worth it (and the hotel even moved our bags for us). The corner suite does have a small balcony, but it doesn't have any patio chairs so it's not entirely usable space.

The location is fantastic. Not only does it make for fantastic views (both our city and falls views were quite nice), it is extremely convenient to get to and from the tourist activities.

City View by Day:

Falls View from the Corner Suite:

I had a great front desk clerk when I checked in. He told me they're in the process of building a club lounge, although I'm not quite sure when it will be completed. Their restaurant is on the 13th floor and has great views, but it was often full in the evening if you didn't make a reservation in advance. We had brunch there which ran $19.95/person.

Self-parking was easy enough, but it still required a bit of a walk. Depending on how many people are out and about, you may have to dodge some tourists since you have to walk through the Crowne Plaza, a terrace with a food court (and the entrance to the casino), the Hard Rock cafe, and then an arcade before getting to the Sheraton's elevators.

+1.

Both Sheraton properties in Niagara Falls, Ontario are very good. Also, there are some great deals to be had in NF certain times of the year.

Is this description accurate for paid parking or some sort of free parking area ?

I am wondering if I should ditch my car or keep the rental when I go up there this week. Only parking I saw so far was 19.00 CAD per night.

That's still pay parking, $10 a day for self park versus valet rate which might change day or weekend

We actually paid $19/day for self-parking ($22 with tax).

Ok so I will ditch our wheels.

I notice that Avis have no one-way surcharge in certain situations. I.e. pick up the car downtown Toronto at Front and Bay, return at Niagara and there's no 1-way fee.

I just booked last night and spg.com already shows pre-upgrade ^

Will report when I get there on Thursday.

Have they opened the club lounge yet? They were adding one when I was there in Sept.

If you get a Casino card and put some time on it - eg, 5cent slots, you'll get free parking.

I've often been too lazy and opted for the valet. I think it's $20/day.
