Renaissance Koh Samui [Master Thread]

Has anyone stayed in the One Bedroom Suite Sea View at this resort? I cannot find any reviews of this room and was wondering which is better vs. the 1 bedroom villa with garden view.

there are several existing posts on the lanai and seaview suites (but personally I wouldn't return to this property)

Thanks. Any reason you wouldn't return?

My wife and I stayed in the 1 bedroom villa for our honeymoon about 9 years ago. We loved the property and room was fantastic!

We had our own dip pool right on the attached deck of our villa that overlooked the ocean (the beach is unimpressive at this property but the water view is quite nice).

The gardens and all the property was pretty meticulous and everything looked exotic.

You'll absolutely enjoy the villa with garden view.

+1, was a very memorable vacation in 2012 and perhaps my favourite Marriott I've visited.

T.

I'll second that. Was there about 3-4 years ago in the 1BDRM Villa with plunge pool. Beach is unremarkable, the views from your pool deck are amazing.

Though... I will say that I did ask for the free breakfast, was denied, I did ask the manager again, and was given it as a plat. He did explain that at resorts there is no free breakfast... All I said was I read on-line about other platinums given this benefit and wondered why I wasn't... so he gave it.

Internet was fairly slow on property, but in the business lounge was ok. There was a managers reception one night (That had great food and was fun), There was a spa just outside the resort that was reasonable/walkable.

Have a great time.

Any recent experiences here? Would love to know how they treat Plats, local area, beach, general experiences.

Thanks

Planning a trip here during June of next year. Two families with all kids under 12. Have a promotion for kids eat free with adults and buffet breakfast daily for the adults.

The other family wants a regular room and we can book a villa. How is the villa? Is it a far walk to the beach or to the pool area?

How is the beach -- especially for the kids?

I would not consider any of the distances as "far", but the beach is not the best with plenty of sharp stones especially when going into the sea.

Does anyone have any recent stay experience at this hotel? Looking to visit in May.

Stayed in October in a villa. We would totally go back. Breakfast was the best we've ever had at any Marriott hotel in the world. I would recommend getting a scooter ($10 a day and free parking at hotel) and going to explore. We (are in our 30s) explored the island in our week there and next time we want to take ferries for day trips to the other islands. We don't like to sit at the resort all day for a week so this was a good option for us. Pool and beach were nice and drinks were expensive by Thai standards but still cheaper than a similar drink at Chili's in the USA. The rooms were wonderful. Zero complaints at all and our favorite Marriott hotel in Thailand so far. PM if you have more questions. I would definitely suggest it to others, especially the adventuresome type. I wouldn't send my 65 year old parents here because they wouldn't feel comfortable exploring the island like we did and would probably be bored after 4 days here, but it's paradise and if staying at the resort and doing nothing for a week is your thing, then you'll do that well here too.
