I stayed this week. The lobby has different furniture now. The renovated rooms are not available yet. The pool area is blocked off.

Suggest waiting until pool and new rooms are available.

The place was like a morgue with hardly any guests on Tuesday night. Bar empty and lobby empty most of the evening.

There were far more staff than guests and it annoyed me to be greeted by ten different staff people asking me how my day was going every time I walked through the lobby.

I didn't realize the trail mix was a complimentary item in the room.

The road noise from delivery trucks early in the morning is an issue I noticed last year and experienced again this year.

Tuesday evenings are BBQ nights in summer at $35 per person.

I liked the towels and bath products.

Highlight of Aspen trip was arriving via Highway 82 over 12,095 ft. Independence Pass. Incredible scenery that you miss if arriving via I-70. The road to Independence Pass is gravel for several miles when driving uphill from Aspen.

Any type of upgrade? I've heard the first week of August is busy as SPG members are using their free resort nights. No availability for the first weekend in August.

Stayed early August for 5 nights using my free resort nights. Was upgraded to a Loft Suite on the second floor. The suite was located outside of the main building across the bridge. One positive of not being in the main building was having a separate entrance in and out of the building for quick access to the room/town.

The hotel was sold out and pretty busy during my stay. Renovations were going on as well. The pool area was completely ripped apart and was not a pretty sight for anyone with a view of the mountain. It looked as if the second floor was completely shut down and you could hear the renovations going on in the rooms above the courtyard.

One thing that I didn't know was the free access to the Remede Spa for Platinum guests. Large hot tub, steam room, cold plunge, 16+ spray shower, and a large hot tub with waterfalls. The spa access made up a bit for not having a usable pool. The hotel doesn't offer a club lounge, but there is a bit of a lounge in the spa. They have snacks, free champagne, hot tea, and a complimentary oxygen bar.

The suite offered a butler, free shirt pressings, free shoe shines, etc.. There were also extra bath amenities not in regular rooms, like bath salts. The internet in the suites is probably about 10x's more fast than in the main building. What's interesting is that you also can get someone on the phone in one phone ring. I'm guessing this is due to the butler service? But if you need to get a hold of anyone at the front desk be prepared to let the phone ring 5+ minutes. I'm not sure if this is something new but you can 'borrow' a Mercedes convertible free for a day.

The Plat Amenity is either 500 points or a decorative set of chocolates. I would probably chocolates. They tasted pretty good, but a few had a very strong pepper after taste. The resort use to give out large bags of trail mix that I really enjoyed, but I had to have them track down a bad this time that was much smaller.

Stayed at the St. Regis for 3 nights in late July. We knew the pool would be closed...they did a very good job making sure you knew, which is smart. Agree with what most say about the service. Top notch. People are all smiles and very helpful. That said, it's a good thing they're renovating the rooms. We got "upgraded" to a deluxe. At least that's what they told us. The room was small and very tired compared to other St. Regis's, and many Westins and Sheratons. We were told the upgrade was a higher floor with a better view. We were on the 3rd floor. Not so high.
The best part of the trip (and this is really good) is that we called down asking where we could rent a car to drive to Independence Pass and other sites in the area. They told us that their complimentary Mercedes convertable was available for the day! Nice! That alone made the trip worth it.

Pleased to hear about the improved services and amenities. A Mercedes for a day is a huge amenity.

I booked for a week in December with my free resort nights. I received extensive warnings that the final phase of renovations might not be completed by then.

Renovations not on Schedule - Cancelling Reservations

Just got a call this morning that the renovations aren't on schedule and they won't be opening as planned. I have a reservation for thanksgiving weekend and they won't be able to honor it. They are working with guests to relocate them to similar accommodations.

As I type this I just called the resort and only certain customers are being moved. They will have less rooms open than originally planned and I have not gotten a clear answer on who is being moved and who isn't. In interest of full disclosure I am booked using a free resort night.

Beyond frustrated. They are offering to put people in different locations based on when they decide and nothing is guaranteed. Granted I am not paying for this but using an advertised benefit. In the few phone calls I have had this morning it seems like there is very little organization between Starwood Corporate and the local hotel staff.

I am travelling from California and have flights booked. Is it unreasonable to expect help with changing to another st regis location and having airfare assistance and honoring the free nights even if the room type limitations isn't available. Obviously I planned ahead and with their late changes I don't feel this would be my fault.

I am a long time reader and try to balance the benefits with reasonable expectations of hotels just giving things away. I have been a platinum for over 3 years now staying around 100 paid nights a year (mostly all for business).

Ouch, that seems like bad project management to not finish the renovations. Originally they were going to phase the project in different areas of the resort, allowing people to stay in non affected rooms. Then they decided earlier this fall to just close and get it all done. Makes you wonder what would have taken so long they could not keep their schedule.

Guess I'll need to be proactive and see what they will do for us. Fortunately we are local, so just a drive, but are booked over thanksgiving with FRN as well.

I had a feeling that they would not be able to get this done in time. It seems they were behind on the renovations back in August. I don't think it makes a difference if you are using FRNs. I'm guessing since you are platinum you would take priority over most. It's weird that they are only moving some guests. Maybe they are keeping their suites available since they are in a different building and possibly opening up one or two of the levels that have finished renovations?

My question is if you get sent to another hotel is this considered being walked? Are you entitled to the same benefits as someone who is walked? I would call and ask for the front desk manager.

As far as the SPG Walk Policy for elite members, no.

While this technically may be true, I would still approach the front office manager with a similar argument. I would ask for typical elite walk compensation and see what the property says.

I had three Free Night Awards that I booked months ago for Thanksgiving weekend. I got this email today saying they weren't going to be able to accomodate me! I have nonrefundable airline tickets already and was only going to spend the holiday at this property. Does anyone know...are some guests being allowed to stay? Are they trying to get rid of Free Night Award guests?????
