Seclusion Day Information: March 21, 2015 and March 9, 2016
Nyepi, known as the “Day of Silence,” marks the celebration of the Balinese New Year in the Hindu Lunar calendar. A spectacular procedure of ceremonies, parades of great bamboo monsters, and fireworks occur on the Eve of Nyepi, followed by a day of total silence and seclusion. The community strongly believes that if the island is silent and dark, the bad spirits will leave and the new year will start in peace. During Nyepi, from 6am until 6am the next day, the island stops. Nobody is allowed in the streets, use of electricity is restricted, and the international airport is closed.
In 2015, Nyepi will fall on Saturday, March 21 and Wednesday, March 9 in 2016. Please note that check-in and check-out will not be possible on Nyepi Day, and Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) will be closed. Some of the resort facilities will operate as usual; however, there will be no transportation services to and from the resort, and televisions will not be available. Lights will be dimmed inside and there will be no outdoor lighting. Our pools and garden areas will still be accessible except for the beach. Only indoor seating will be available at Arwana Restaurant. Cascade Bar and Sapphire bar will close at 6pm. Kul Kul Bar will remain closed.
We kindly invite you to respect this sacred day and observe these restrictions. Normal activity in Bali will resume at 6am on Sunday, March 22, 2015 and Thursday, March 10 in 2016.
Compulsory New Year's Eve Dinner: December 31, 2015
On December 31, 2015, there is a compulsory New Year’s Eve dinner for all guests staying over this date. Rate starts from 250 USD per adult and 85 USD per child (6 to 12 years of age). Checkouts on December 31, 2015 are not permitted.
Guests are required to pay the additional charges directly to the hotel upon arrival. The hotel will contact guests prior to arrival regarding the mandatory charges and to provide additional information.

i would never spend 12k points for a night there.... it was just on sale on expedia some weeks ago including December/January , a night including taxes was around 80 USD...
Wanted to book some nights but it was about 30% higher on spg. BRG denied ~50 hours response time...
2 Years ago i stayed for around 110 USD in January

I can´t seem to wrap my head around this resort. It´s on offer for 12k points per night this December. That seems ridiculously low for a LC property. On the flip side, the reviews - here and elsewhere - seem to be quite good. And the pictures seem rather average, at best. What am I missing? Is this place a jaw dropper, or just a really good resort at value per money spent?

I'm going to be in Bali the first week of February and was considering staying at the Laguna Bali.
We are travelling with a 2 year old, and also this will be the last week of a 24 day vacation. My wife wants Bali to be a relaxed time and she is really pushing to stay at one of the resorts in Nusa Dua.
I'm looking more at 5 nights ( 5th night free ), so with points wit would come to 9600 a night. I know its not the best redemption but I dont think its that bad either, plus i do have the points.
My question(s) are, is it a nice hotel to be with a kid? My other option is the Ritz, but i find its to far down the road and there doesnt seem to be much around for eating, where as the Laguna looks like it has a much better location.
The other choices, the Westin looks decent enough, but they dont seem to have all dates available. The Marriott courtyard seems smaller and not near the beach. St Regis costs a lot more than im willing to spend on points.
So, is Laguna Bali a good choice ? We basically just want to relax but at the same time be able to go out to eat whenever we want without having to go too far.
Thanks!

Think you will enjoy your stay no matter which of these two so go for the one that's cheapest.

or is it possible to asked the hotel staff to bring them over to the other property?

There are stairs but I’m sure a bell boy would be happy to help. Trust me, you won’t be the first to try both properties one after the other.

Hi folks, thanks for all the good info in this thread.
I am trying to plan a honeymoon and was looking at this property. I have a lot of Amex points and am trying to book something nice for a ~10 day stay (excluding travel days). SPG Gold. The redemption rates look very favorable for when we were considering, so I put it on our list.
Our priorities are the beach, the food, and the hard product. How is the food here? My fiancé and are foodies, and are not much for buffets or big big breakfasts. Also, is 10 days too long for this property?
Appreciate any advice!

Just returned from a week in Blai, 2 days at the Courtyard Seminyak and 5 days at the Laguna. Here's my take on it:
10 days is a long time to be at the Laguna unless ALL you want to do is lay at the pool or the beach. It's a very nice resort but could be any nice resort on any nice beach. There's not a lot in or near Nusa Dua so unless you want to eat at a 5* resort (there are a number within walking distance) with expensive meals or the mediocre restaurants at the Bali Collection mall (also within easy walking distance), there's not a lot of food choices. The resort and the staff was excellent, couldn't fault them for anything, and the setting is very nice. They treated me very well as a Plat too. They upgraded us to an Executive Suite was very large and georgeous. If I was going back to Bali for 10 days and didn't mind changing hotels a couple times I would split my time between Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud. That would give you a taste of the three different experiences you can get in Bali. We visited Kuta and did not like it at all, way too tacky and busy, not our thing. If you do end up staying at the Laguna for the whole time, I would do what we did and take a number of full day tours to see some of the rest of the island. We had an awesome driver, Putu, who only charges $50 USD for the whole day as your driver. He was such a kind and considerate person that I don't hesitate in recommending him for any of your touring needs. He can be contacted at https://putudriverinbali.wordpress.com/ . Tell him Ross from Canada says hi!
Couple of other notes, we used Uber or Grab for all our other transportation needs while there, no problem, including going to and from the airport. Airport has wifi for the pick up and I easuily got a sim card for my phone, $10 for 8GB, which worked fine for requesting all the other rides. Super cheap ($7 CDN to and from the airport) but make sure to ask them to take the toll road. Most will if you pay the toll in cash to them, about $1 CDN. If you're around any monkeys be careful of anything that is not attached to you, including any glasses. Saw a pair grabbed right off of someones face, never to be seen again. Must see places would be Ubud and the Monkey forest, Kecak Fire Dance at Uluwatu, Rice Terraces and Mount Batur.
I'd be happy to answer any other specific questions you might have, hope this helps.

Very nice, thank you so much for the information! Photos look excellent, sounds like you had a great trip.
The 10-days or so is what seems to be our issue. We are trying to find the right place with the right balance.

We are thinking about Bali in February next year......very curious what dates you were there and what the weather was like in regards to rain this time of year? Never been and I understand it is rainy season but what does that mean?
