Hi guys,
Will be here in a few days. Is the going rate for taxi from MVD to hotel still approx. 50$? Or is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks! |

It's about $35 USD (930 Pesos). No convenient alternative.
Just find this whole taxi thing in Argentina and Montevideo quite expensive. Yesterday was charged 190 pesos from AEP to Sheraton. |

Ok, Thanks Sperry :-)

No alternative like this exists in Montevideo however but you'll generally find prices decent (with the exception of that taxi fare to the airport). It is decently far from the city however (unlike AEP). You can check to see if Uber is live yet in Montevideo when you arrive. They are working on it https://www.uber.com/jobs/49063 Uber is usually cheaper to the airport than a taxi. |

If you have access to USD you can convert at the Blue Dollar rate which makes Argentina very cheap.

But I got airporttransfer.com.uy when I was googling last night from MVD to Sheraton Montevideo at a rate of 37$ US. it's not like regular taxi but like ezeiza taxi. I guess that's the lowest I can find. Yah, my funds are in US$ but none of the staff's here in Sheraton B.A. would recommend a place where I can find blue $ rate. I did got scammed from AEP however because going to AEP was 105 pesos but coming back was almost double. My mistake of getting into the cab without negotiating. You know of a place that offers blue $ that's legit and doesn't have fake money in it? Thank you! |

Wonderful folks working here, especially Gustavo who escorted me to my room. Really like how welcoming they are and the moment I got off the car, someone was there to help me out with my things.
Gustavo was right beside me the moment I got off, to check-in, to showing me where to go in the premises, to putting my luggage on the rack. Truly top notch As for room itself, was upgraded to a corner club suite overlooking the river. Huge walkway to Jacuzzi. Room itself is about 650+ square feet. Got a letter from the GM welcoming me as an "ambassador"guest with a bottle of wine, different kind of cheese, and bread. The club lounge on 23 floor is tiny. About the same size of my suite it. However, it's free flowing champagne, sparkling wine, red and white wine during happy hour. Also has a few of selection of cold cuts, sandwhiches, pastries, etc. So even though lounge is small, the alcoholic offerings (for south America) is quite good. Gym is on 26th floor. Anyways, what I love about this property is that the staff's are very attentive to your needs. Quite impressed with the service. Something I won't forget easily |

Was Gustavo at the gym to work out with you? ;)
Seriously though, I am amazed with their level of hospitality and attentiveness. One of the best in Latin America Also they have free WiFi in the taxi and tour bus I took. Flyertalking right now while in the bus :-) |
Any recent updates for this property? Particularly Club Lounge and wifi quality. thanks

Sheraton Montevideo
I was there first of April. I really enjoy the hotel. The Club Lounge offers a very nice selection of food at happy hour and breakfast. And the staff is great. Hotel is within walking distance of a good number of excellent restaurants.
