Tips on Availability
Award availability (and availability in general) seems to now be loaded in a week at a time (1 year minus two weeks on Saturday night around midnight ET) rather than day by day as it seemed to be previously.

Arrival information
  • All arrangements for travel to the island must be arranged through [email protected] at least 72 hours in advance.
  • St. Regis Airport Butler will escort guests to the seaplane terminal StR lounge in the comfort of a luxury car or van. The lounge includes drinks and light snacks, WiFi and kids toys.
  • Seaplane schedules are determined one day before arrival or departure and flights take place only from 6am to 3:30pm. The resort does not control the scheduling or arrangements of seaplane flights. This is completely under the control of Trans Maldivian Airways.
  • Guests arriving after 4pm will have to stay overnight on Hulhumale or Male and travel by seaplane the next morning.
  • The maximum baggage allowance per person is 30kg; excess baggage will be charged an additional fee of $6/kg. You can leave your baggage at the airport for $6/day.
  • Fee: $745 roundtrip per person, tax included. Children from 2-11 years pay $449. Complimentary for children under 2 years of age.
  • Travel Time: 45 minutes (one way)
Villa Categories
Note this is not a complete list and is only for the lowest 5 room categories:
  • Base Room is the GV (Garden Villa)
  • Then OWV (Over Water Villa)
  • Then BV (Beach Villa)
  • Then Panoramic OWV
  • Then Sunset OWV
See resort map below.

Regular OWV are (A) 501-507, 509-517, facing into the island. You get a warmer pool compared to Panoramic OWV but less privacy as the higher number rooms can be seen from the island.
Panoramic OWV are (B) 523-525, 527-529 facing out to sea to the north. You get the privacy BUT you will have a chilly pool.

Sunset OWV are (C) 530-534, 536-544 with the higher numbers facing the Whale Bar. The sunsets are spectacular and your pool will be warmest of the three.

Snorkeling

Went on the 2.5 hour turtle excursion this morning and really enjoyed it. About a 20 minute boat ride to the first reef and then at least 45 minutes in the water . Back on board and another 10 to 15 minute ride to the second stop where in addition to a variety of colorful fish we saw turtles , sharks and lobsters. Well organized and a very professional crew.

Marriott FB Offer

We opted to take the $300 a day offer that gives you a credit for food and beverages of $350. As a titanium member I also selected the free breakfast. I initally had some doubt that we would spend $350 a day on lunch and dinner, not including tips, but my experence has been that while it is certainly possible for a couple spend less than $300 a day on meals, easier if breakfast is included in your package, it is not likely you will do so. Our experience to date at the resort has been that we have adveraged over $350.

We have both been impressed the resort thus far .

Overwater villa room # recommendation

I'm going at the end of october for a week, overwater villa w/ titanium status.
If I want to snorkel w/ a lot of sea creatures/corals, which location would be best? Toward Eat or North?

If the price goes down after you have booked and paid, you can just go to manage your booking the marriot website and update your booking to receive a reimbursement of the points deduction. I booked a few months ago for a trip in October for over 600k points, and have now received 200k points back in checking rates and updating my booking as the rate has gone down!

Airport Arrival

I assume this has been covered previously and when the airport expansion is completed will need to be revised still as I had little information beyond the fact we would be met by hotel staff upon leaving the secure baggage claim area I offer the following observations.
On our flight, Qatar, we were taken by buses to the terminal and customs. When we entered a large mass of people were waiting in long lines to go through immigrations. On the right side of the entry hall a line is dedicated to first and business class passengers. The wait time to be checked by immigration in that line was less than ten minutes as opposed to the regular lines where the wait must have been many time longer. I also noted while we produced our passports and the QR code the Maldives goverment required the person in front of us had no power for his phone and could not show the QR code. When he was able to produce a document showing he was staying at the Four Seasons he was allowed in.
Wait time for luggage was less than ten minutes after clearing immigration .
We were met by hotel staff who took our luggage and escorted us to a SUV. They took our pictures and gave us a iPad with a greeting from our butler. We were then driven to the sea plane terminal, about ten minutes away. Despite the fact another couple on our fight was also on the same sea plane flight our arrival we handled separately. The lounge at the sea plane terminal was very nice and we were offered food and cold drinks but as boarding for our flight began very shortly after our arrival I can't say more.
The hotel staff who met us after immigration and left us shortly before boarding the seaplane could not have been nicer or more efficient.
I was offered the services of a company that would manage our arrival and would expedite getting through immigartions but given how easy it is for business class passengers I was glad I did not spend the money though I suppose at busy times of the year it would be worth considering.

My experence is limited but the best snorkeling I have found on the island is in the area in front of the two bedroom over water family villas. If like us your staying in a regular over water villa pick one not to far out so you can swim along the reef towards the whale bar . Lots of fish and I saw a very slow moving turtle this morning in that area. Corals are not nearly as good as you will find on one of the nearby reef you will need to take a boat to get to but plenty of fish and I the turtle experence I had on the house reef was better than the one on the turtle excursion.

Snorkeling from Villas 537 to 541 towards and past the whale bar would seem pretty good bets but I am not staying in any of those and muy experience is limited. Have not been snorkeling towards the far end of the row of owv.

This morning when the tide was out and not much current I swam from my regular OWV to the reef just out front of the JJ Astor and found it a very nice spot, lots of fish and coral was in good shape. As with all the snorkeling I have done it is much easier if you go with the current, or go as I did this morning when the tide is out and the current is not strong. In answer to the question I would think any of the OWV close to the Astor would be good.

It would be nice if you could always snorkel from your OWV to edge of reef and back anytime of day but I have found that in the afternoon that has been impossible for me. This afternoon from . where I am staying, one of the sunrise villas, the only direction I could go was toward the seaplane dock. I drifted to the beach nearby and easily got a ride back to my OWV. If you advise your butler he or she will arrange transportation back and towels. Fairly obvious today where the current would take you but again the butler's will have good info or will get It from the dive center. I have found in the mornings the current almost nonexistent but can't say that is a general rule as my experience is limited to five mornings.
