When I view my reservation on the Marriott website, the cancellation policy states free cancellation prior to 30 days before arrival. However, if I click "print" to get a printable version of the reservation, the cancellation policy changes to 14 days.

Any advice on which one is accurate? Based on data points, if I need to cancel ~20 days before the first night am I looking at losing all my points or just the fee for the first night?

I'm heading out soon for a 7 night stay. Asked about sunset over water availability and was quoted an additional $200 / night plus tax. As much as I want to, we probably aren't going to do this. And with only Platinum status, I don't think it will magically happen for us.

Additionally, I was told that the Marriott Food and Beverage plan is available at $300 / evening and must be purchased on the first day for the entire stay. That provides an additional credit of $50 / day. Its use it or loose it.

I'm unclear if it rolls from day to day, or you have to use the entire $350 each day to get the value. I've asked for clarification. Either way, I'm assuming this is a safe bet, given the dining and drink prices.

Is that for the Half Board or Full Board option? We get complimentary breakfast so I'm thinking based on their food menus the pricing isn't too crazy if we ate a late brunch and then early dinner with snacks in between. We don't typically eat that much anyways.

My understanding is that it is different from the half board option. For half board, I understood all meals had to be chosen from a limited menu from Alba - and you have to use it all nights of the stay. Or you could get a credit towards other restaurants, but the credit was less than the board cost. I guess I will clarify when I arrive, as they said it should be taken care of with your butler in the first day.

This is a great perk and we used it last year. They actually say use it or loose it but I believe in our case it was rolling over. But then again we went beyond the total of the $350 per night eventually.

could you use it at any restaurant? Do you know if it was $350 bake service and tax, or could it be asked to service and tax?

In practice, what they do is add the $350 per night as a credit to your bill. So any charges on your bill would balance it out. Just be sure to use it on F&B.

The Mrs and I are going here in early September this half/full board sounds intriguing. Did you have to ask for it or was it proactively offered to you?

I know this is probably not the most accurate of data but it looks like the Male area is expecting storms the next 2 weeks. I hope the time we get there all that will be out of it's system and we get some sunshine. Fingers crossed.

Arrived here today. The weather is great. There is a brand new seaplane terminal and they are still building the lounge, but the business class lounge is very nice.

Quick question - there is a 10% service charge on each food and beverage check. What do you typically add to that for a tip?

We arrive Sunday and could not be more excited! How do the June / July refresh renovations look? Any tips / learnings for the transfers that you wish you knew about prior to the trip?

I haven’t seen too much of the property yet and I don’t have a point of comparison, so it’s hard to say. That being said, we are in a 2 story ocean villa and everything looks to be in good shape. It seems like they are still working on others, but someone said occupancy was relatively low.

Overall the property is visually stunning and the service is very attentive.

Regarding transfer, it was very easy. These were the steps:

(1) Pass through immigration
(2) Get bags
(3) Meet airport butler
(4) Go to seaplane check-in (airport butler does this, but you need to drop off your luggage-you can keep smaller lap bags with you, but everything is weighed).
(5) Get driven to seaplane lounge and wait there
(6) When ready for boarding, go to boarding area
(7) Seaplane ride

The bags you “checked” are in your villa/room when you arrive. They’re stored right behind you in the seaplane and delivered while your butler gives you a quick island tour.

Hope this helps!
