We stayed there and liked it. It's not, however, what I would call romantic, as it pretty much looks like a US Marriott. While it's not near the major sights, it's very convenient to the metro, which can get you wherever you want to go.

Will be in Paris for 2 nights on points in April. Which hotel is the most romantic and best located for easy walking to metro and attractions, and food. #1 concern is just having the highest quality "romantic" hotel.

Thanks!
I really like P-T, but I have no doubt, especially when you include "romantic", that the best answer to your query is Vendome.

Heck, it's Paris. Even the CYs are romantic.

Seriously, I'm with the Vendome crowd on this.

The Marriott Ambassador isn't a bad option - and it's one of the better point values. Great access to Auber/Opera and Chaussée-d'Antin (and the RoissyBus). Plus, if she likes shopping, it's near the Grands Magasins.

Another decent option is the Renaissance Paris Le Parc Trocadero - but I usually avoid it as I don't like the 16eme arrondissement or the Champs-Élysées.

+1: we stay at Le Parc Trocadero 4-5x a year...charming neighborhood away from hustle and bustle of tourist sites...try Le Poincare bistro down the street or the kosher Italian place a few doors down from the hotel (went blank on name!)

Do Golds get breakfast at Trocadero, or only Plat?

Actually, there are a lot of crappy restaurants in Paris. Although it's sad to see so many brasseries going out of business, each one usually means one less crappy place for food.

Check out the France forum here. Lots of interesting recommendations for dining. Also check out http://parisbymouth.com/

Stayed at Renaissance Arc de Triomphe Hotel just two months ago. Fairly nice hotel and the full height windows are really nice. It's a modern look inside.

If you choose to stay here, there's La Cantina Chic just around the corner and it's really good Italian (their truffle dish is their specialty).

If you're into steaks, I highly recommend Sacrée fleur by Sacré-Cœur.

I highly recommend downloading the Tripadvisor App and downloading the Paris offline guide. Has really good (and some bad) recommendations based on user feedback

Renaissance Paris Vendome vs. Arc de Triomphe

Hi all - another paris thread, I know. Summer is coming!

I wanted to ask those who have visited both Renaissance Paris Vendome and Arc de Triomphe for their insights. I have found some dated threads on the individual hotels so wanted to check if anyone has been to both.

I will be in Paris 21-23 May. Since it's the Monaco grand prix, everyhing is getting quite booked up in Paris also. I wasn't able to get a room at Marriott Champs Elysee, which would have been my first choice.

I am visiting with a girl I am trying to woo, so I was looking for the best option

I'm a platinum elite and was able to book both renaissances for now, but will need to make a choice based on your input. Which of the hotels offer breakfast for plats, lounge, upgrade to a nice room, etc.

I have stayed at both and it's a tough call. Both offer good breakfasts in the restaurant for Gold / Plat (no lounge in either). Room / upgrade may be better and larger at the Arc de Triomphe because the rooms are generally larger there.

Arc de Triomphe is a very modern, contemporary hotel, while Vendome is more understated and has more of a boutique feel. If it matters, Vendome has an indoor pool.

The neighborhoods are very different. With Arc de Triomphe, you turn right out of the hotel and in 5-10 minutes you are at the Arc de Triomphe. Turn left, and you are in a really nice neighborhood with few tourists. With Vendome, you are at the Tuilerries and close to the Louvre which will make for a very nice romantic walk.

I am returning in January and it was a tough decision. I went with Vendome partly because I want easier walking access to the Saint Germain / left bank.

I hope this helps. You really can't go too wrong. I will say that the Champs Elysee location has never appealed to me.
