We just returned from a four-night stay at Renaissance Vendome. Husband is Platinum and we were on an award stay. We were upgraded to pleasant room overlooking the courtyard. The bathroom was lovely, spacious, decent counter space, separate tub and shower. Good water temperature and pressure. Bed was fine, two singles put together to make a " king".
I could feel the edges, but it was not bothersome.

Breakfast buffet for two vouchers were provided, we enjoyed twice and turned in the remains for points.
The staff and service was very good, gracious, eager to please, and friendly.
We also received a bogo for cocktails in the lounge. We reviewed the menu and declined, prices were 20 Euro and up.
Wonderful neighborhood, Tulieries and Pyramides metro within 5 mins.
Plenty of restaurants in the area. Laundromat within 5 mins, towards Pyramides metro, next to le Pain Quotidien.

And if you go at Xmas time, that changes everything.
2 hour Eiffel tower queue a couple weeks ago if you didn't get advance tickets. Remember you have to buy the advance ones a few days ahead, not just the morning of / day before.

Some large lines for sure at the Eiffel Tower and 2-3 hours is expected. To put it into perspective the Catacombs line was almost 3.5 hours on a Sunday.

Thanks for the update! Much appreciated, and I'll update the exec lounge sticky.

Cheers.

Renaissance Paris Hippodrome de St Cloud

Spent a night here last week before a visit to Versailles. Lobby and rooms were lovely, check in experience was good. Had a room with 2 doubles. No upgrade (3 of us so always difficult) or lounge but small bottle of red in room presumably to reflect status. Ordered room service - food was woeful and we sent it back straight away. Breakfast was fine - we had it included in our rate and I think they said we would get points for the free breakfast at check in. Room had one of each towel despite being booked for 3.

Overall stay was ok and served its purpose for our road trip but I wouldn't be in a huge rush to return.

Thanks for the update. I think it's the first one we've had at this property.

Cheers.

Is there consensus among those that have been to Paris a few times regarding the recommendation above? We are planning a week there, and i had planned on staying at the C-E as this is our first time. But i have read a lot of folks say to stay away from the hotel/street, as the Vendome is better. It will be our first time so we want to make the most of it, is C-E really that bad of a street? Just to give some insight on us when we visit NY we usually stay as close to times square as possible. Hopefully this will help with your recommendations either the Vendome or the C-E. Thanks.

We've stayed at the CE property a number of times (not in the past few years) and really like the location. The Metro is a block away. You'd be fine with the Vendome too.

But would you pick the C-E over the Vendome for a first time visitor to Paris?

I would say the difference between staying in Times Square when in NY and on the CE in Paris, is that one might choose to stay in Times Square for the easy access to Broadway theatre as well as other NY sights. In Paris, staying at the CE, will give you easy access to the Arc De Triomphe, the metro, and luxury brand stores that you would find in other major cities. I would say that the other similarity is the shear number of tourists and high level of activity and energy. There is nothing wrong with this if that is what you like.

The Vendome will be far less frenetic, offers easy walking to the Tuilerries, the Louvre, and Musee D'Orsay. Certainly if you want to hit those museums, it is a great place to stay. Another option is the Renaissance Arc De Triomphe. Easy access to the CE, but in a nice Parisian neighborhood.

The Metro can get you pretty much everywhere you'll want to go, so there are no wrong answers here. Personally, I like easy access to the museums and a somewhat quieter setting.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss further.

Yes I would because I like the hotel and I like the Champs-Elysees. It's a very beautiful street. As michelin said, the Vendone is a more quiet setting. Either way, they're both good choices for a first trip to Paris.

We stayed at the Renaissance Arc de Triomphe property in April on award stay. Upgraded to an architectural room (lower floor, overlooking main street) without prompting. Offered breakfast vouchers because there isn't a CL, several options for platinum arrival gift. (We opted for chocolates and water.) Staff was very friendly and bellmen worked hard to get cabs early in the morning.

Room was a good size with wall of windows, bathroom was pretty small and shower leaked everywhere, but the location was fantastic. The metro was two short blocks away. We walked down to the Eiffel Tower the first night - it was a beautiful walk. We passed the Trocadero property one day - I wouldn't mind trying that one next time, but it is not as close to the Metro as Arc de Triomphe. The area around the CE property was too frantic to me - it would be like staying in Times Square.

Overall, it was a solid stay with a fantastic location. We ended up extending our trip and the staff had no problem letting us keep our room and extending the reservation.

Overnight in Paris

My wife and I are going to spend one night in Paris, before flying out the
next morning. Using points, platinum member. It looks like CE is my best option. We can walk down to Arc de Triomphe, and over to Effel Tower.

I think the Avation Club, (#1 French casino) is also close. Anyone know this for sure?

Any other ideas would be appreciated!!

We went with the KIDS.

We just returned from our 5 night award stay at Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel.

As there were four of us, we got the one family room. It was fair size and good for us as we did not spend a lot of time at the hotel. No upgrades as it was the room with the two double beds. On the website, they charged 130 E extra per night, however, I had originally booked two rooms and then emailed them to see if we can get it to one room. We were able to negotiate the five nights at the surplus rate of only 100Euro instead of the 130E.

Also, they comped breakfast for all four of us rather than the two allowed for plats. They have their normal buffet, plus they cooked to order special orders like omelets and such. Also they supplied gluten free bread for Mrs. Kaaria. Bibi at the morning breakfast was great! Plus they brought us night treats and water every night.

Location was great, walkable to the Eiffel tower (about 35min with kids in tow). In case you need it, there is a laundromat close to the hotel.

Staff was friendly.
We would stay there again.
