Thank you - agree, thats what it looks like on the map. This will be our first time visiting Rome so prefer the more central location and thus I'm sticking with the St Regis.

FWIW, the Cavalieri appears to have a very nice pool area, but when you read the fine print there is a Euro 31 per day fee for registered guests to access it. Seems a bit obnoxious when their already charging you ~$500/nt.

I don't know about a charge for the pool at the Cavlieri- the restaurant is quite deservedly famous although I think outrageously expensive for Rome standards even for a 3 star Michelin restaurant.

Another vote for the St Regis. Though both hotels are very nice with superb service, I like the location of the St. Regis more. It is a 10 min walk to the Pizza Navone with its many restaurants, close to Termini and an Metro station. It is 15 min walk to the major tourist areas (Trevi fountain, Hadrian's, etc).

The Cavalieri is outside of the center with very few restaurants nearby. If you eat breakfast, there isn't much choice besides the hotel's excellent but expensive buffet (it used to be free for Gold and Diamond Hhonors but apparently that is changing). They do offer a free shuttle to Pizza Barbieri but this often fills up and breaks for a few hours in the middle of the day. Taxi to the center runs 8-10 euros each way.
At the St. Regis, there are many restaurants within 10 min walk. I don't think it has a pool though.

Can anyone comment on the Platinum breakfast amenity at the St Regis? Is it just a "continental" cold breakfast or do you get a hot option?

Hot - the card that they give you says Continental - but you get the full breakfast.

Are SNA's still allowed at this hotel? I made a reservation in April, but I am getting a message that SNAs can't be applied to the reservation

Has anyone had experience here recently booking two rooms as a SPG platinum and getting breakfast for both rooms? I think the policy sometimes depends on the property. Also, I may have another friend meeting me there but she's not sure yet (work load dependent). I currently just booked for two people, will it be a problem to get a roll away for the 3rd person should she decide to come? Thanks for your help!

I stayed at the Rome Cavaleri a few years ago, it is lovely, has breathtaking views of Rome and as a Diamond we were upgraded to a suite and the fancy level with a private elevator, can't remember what they called it. That being said the location is tough if you want to get out and see/experience Rome, you are isolated from Rome unless you can get on the shuttle, get their early or pay for a cab. I'm going back to Rome in 2 weeks and will be staying at the St. Regis, mainly due to location as I want to be able to walk to most places and be on my own time, not the shuttles. They did accept my SNA's for the room, and I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this comes through:)
I considered the Westin, but saw on the website their king beds are really 2 twin beds pushed together, it appears the St. Regis has true King beds that works much better for me and my bf.

I'm staying at the St Regis this coming weekend. I got one of the usual St Regis butler notes and filled in a form saying that I'd like an airport pickup about 4 days, but haven't heard back.

In that time I've had 3-4 emails with a UK 4* hotel I booked afterwards, so I'm a bit disappointed, and getting a bit concerned they're going to ignore the different things I asked for.

I guess I'll have to call them in a couple of days and see what's going on. There may well have been an exceptional mix-up, but it's not a great first step. My SNA has come through for one of two stays though, so I'm looking forward to trying out their Junior Suite.
