This is a great hotel for a quick overnight. They treat Plat's extremely well. The included buffet in the restaurant is excellent. One of my 2 favorite airport hotels in the world (the other is the Grand Hyatt DFW)

As a Gold member previously, when staying at this property I was treated very well - I even received an upgrade to a Junior Suite once and was once greeted upon arrival and brought to my room for check-in - but other than the Plat arrival gift, there is really not much differences compared to staying as a Plat. I don't think there is any change in policy.

As gold, on 31Dec we checked in at 2am after viewing the festivities at the harbor to a regular room on the same floor as the lounge. However, we were also booked as 4 people to a room so there probably wasn't much to be done.

Is this property worth the extra $50 for a quick overnight vs. the Regal?
We arrive from DPS on KA 361 at 23:30 and leave for HND on CX 548 at 8:40am the next morning so there will be no time to take advantage of any Plat perks.
That being said it would earn some points but I'm leaning towards not worth it for 8 hours.

Regal is right in the terminal so it is probably faster to get to... reviews seem mixed but given the short duration of the stay and for convenience reasons, I'd chance it.

Agree with Sharon and storewanderer.
I have stayed at both properties and, whilst I would rate the Marriott as far superior to the Regal, your short stay means all you need is a clean place to get your head down for a few hours.
Given that you can walk to and from the Regal I would stay there in your circumstances.

Just checked out and back at HKG. tom911's write-up is still pretty accurate. Personally greeted and escorted straight to my room out of the shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes I believe.
Evening snacks are 6-8, breakfast is 6-10 I think, lounge is open 0600-2400.

It's a very nice Marriott hotel. I wish Marriott hotel in USA can do the same.

Hopefully the hotel's welcome desk at T1 Arrivals Hall B is not that difficult to locate.

Extremely easy. All the hotels have desks at the end of the arrivals hall. They are in the back left corner.
