Should have been a meter rate

Plat benefit change?

LM BKK seems to have changed their platinum benefits. Now they offer
- upgrade, normally to suites
- choice of either 500 points, comp breakfast or gift
- 2 drinks during evening cocktail hours (unsure if 2 per room or per pax)

Ouch, benefit reduction already?

Is it two per room or per person? Per stay or per night?

Is the "tapas" bar still included?

Two alcoholic drinks per room, per day. No tapas bar. Judging from previous posts, benefit curtail indeed.

Is this the correct thread? LM BKK is the one downtown. LM Suvarnabhumi is the one closer to the airport.

BKK is also the acronym for Suvarnabhumi. I find it very difficult to believe that LM Surawong would've downgraded so radically!

I meant, LM Bangkok airport (Suvarnabhumi). So, anyway, correct thread.

I spent one night here recently and was overall disappointed. Took 20 minutes from the airport and nothing else is nearby. Only benefit of being a Gold member was the choice of points or a welcome drink. Since the bar was closed when I arrived, I chose the points.

My room seemed poorly constructed -- minor things like bubbles in the wallpaper, gaps between faucet and sink, and loud footsteps in the room above me. Also a gap between the room and the outside door, plenty of room for insects and even geckos to enter. View of the golf course was nice and the bathroom was very large.

If you want any amenities found in 5-star hotels, such as a morning newspaper, coffee, toothbrush, etc., you have to ask for them. Quality of breakfast was below expectations; cooked-to-order eggs poorly done, most foods were not hot, bacon was rubbery, fruit had no flavor, etc.

I thought I might play golf but guests only receive a 10% discount and paying around 6K baht seemed too much (4K for greens fee, 1.5K for rental clubs, plus caddy). The course did look well maintained though. No reason for me to return.

Is all of the construction finished or are they behind schedule?

I didn't see or hear any construction but apparently they are still working on the property. I've updated the wiki to reflect the latest construction information.

I realise the airport hotel question has been discussed before so please bear with me. I have a full day of meetings in Bangkok in early Feb and a 7:25am flight out of BKK the morning after. Am I better off choosing the Novotel airport property (which is a fair bit more expensive on my date)? Are there any advantages to the location of this property of will travel times to the airport be roughly the same from a Sukhumvit hotel?

Am SPG Gold (and Accor Gold for what it's worth). Can I expect a Club Room upgrade as these seem to be the next category above the basic "Golf View" rooms?

Can't help on the Gold upgrade question, but there's no significant difference between staying here or Sukhumvit in terms of travel time at that time of the day. The Novotel saves a 30-45 minutes taxi ride in the morning (plus whatever buffer you're comfortable with), but I'd say the "airport" LM makes little sense in your scenario.

I really wouldn't say "save" 30-45. Novotel Airport may "save" 20. The taxi ride from LMS shouldn't be more than 30 max more like 20-25.

Personally, i'd avoid the double taxi airport transfer and book in Suk or wherever you'll wind up following your meetings. Time spent expressway at 5:30am is time well spent.

And yes, I'd do a hotel car not a taxi as it seems you can write it off.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll probably end up staying another night at the Conrad and go from there to the airport in the early morning.

No tapas bar, 2 alcohol drinks limit. There won't be ever a club lounge. Sad to have booked a stay here. Last time for me here....
