Element, Amsterdam, Netherlands [Master Thread]

When checking out the hotel scene in Amsterdam, a lot is happening lately in my opinion, Starwood properties are coming and going. Because next to the opening of the new W hotel in 2015, Starwood has made plans to open up an Element hotel in Amsterdam. To be exact at the Gelderlandplein in the south of the city, Starwood has signed an agreement with Bari gruppe GMBH to open up the hotel. The Bari Gruppe is also the owner of the Element hotel in Frankfurt at the airport. So that is some exiting news! The opening date of the hotel has not been mentioned.

The article does not say so (but also nothing to the contrary). My assumption would be it will be a newly-built hotel given the rather unique layout of Element rooms. The Frankfurt property in fact is a newly-buildt hotel (and a very nice one I might add).

Greetings - Dirk

I came across this source: http://www.missethoreca.nl/hotel/nie...naar_Amsterdam (only in Dutch again)

From the article it becomes clear that the hotel will be put in an old office building which will be transformed into the hotel. The hotel will get 160 studio's and one room suites which will include a energy saving kitchen and bathrooms which include a rain shower and "dual flush" toilet. The heavenly bed will also be present. Additional amenities will be a 24h gym, 2 flexible meeting rooms, an allday restaurant and bar, a "restore" shop for food and drinks, 24h laundry room, free wifi, and bicycles will be available for rent.

The article mentions that both the W hotel and Element will open up in 2015, so opening year will be somewhere in 2015...

I agree with you, I will experience the Pulitzer this December. But at least SPG is not leaving AMS for good.

They might as well have left

I would rather have the pultizer then all of these others as well. SPG HAS effectively pulled out of Amsterdam for 6 months.....I am curious what she will re brand as.....I am SURE they are not going it alone.

Cheers!

IIRC breakfast is included in all rates at element properties. There's also an evening reception (with some free food and wine/beer) on three or four weeknights, at least in USA elements. YMMV.

It's also 20 minutes away from the city centre then the W I'm still waiting for the standard W rates to drop, they still show only €390 rates.

Found a lot of weekend for around €100 a night with this Element hotel. Let's see if it opens in time

Nope, not opening in time.

The delay by a week. Standard is to ship you to Sheraton, no points offered.
