Good details in this post: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30029755-post302.html
The Atlantis is made up of 4 towers that will participate for redemption stays. They are as follows:
Atlantis, Beach Tower - Do not participate in Marriott reward booking(?) (old Category 7)
Atlantis, Coral Towers - New Category 5 (35k) (old Category 8 (from March, 2018 https://www.marriott.com/marriott-rewards/use/category-update.mi)
Atlantis, Royal Towers - New Category 6 (50k) (old Category 8)
The Cove Atlantis - New Category 7 (60k) (old Category 9)
Apparently, you cannot redeem points for a stay at The Reef Atlantis, but you can earn points on a paid stay there.
Points are earned for room rate only. No points on incidental spend. Platinum Arrival Gift (PAG) is 500pts or food/drink amenity. $20 internet fee* is NOT waived for Gold/Plats per Marriott's T&Cs. For rooms that will have more than two people aged twelve or over, there is an "additional adult charge" per person. *For Royal, Coral, Beach Towers, internet is included as part of the daily resort fee of $50.
"For clarification purposes, the daily charge is not a resort fee. The additional charges associated with the stay currently include mandatory gratuities and a utility service fee per person per day. The amount can vary by unit type by building. These additional charges have always been in place at Atlantis."
ADDITIONAL CHARGES:
Guests of Atlantis, Harborside Resort, The Cove and The Reef Atlantis are subject to an 20% charge per night that includes taxes, the Paradise Island Tourism and Development Association levy, the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board levy and compensation for servicing your reservation. In addition, guests will be required to pay a mandatory gratuity and utility service fee of (i) up to $25.95 per person per day depending on unit type for Atlantis guests, (ii) up to $20.70 per person per day depending on unit type for Harborside Resort guests, and (iii) up to $65.95 per person per day depending on unit type for The Cove or The Reef Atlantis guests. If you purchase a pre-paid package these charges are already included in your package price. If you do not purchase a pre-paid package, these charges will be assessed upon check out at the property. Please be advised that all mandatory gratuities, taxes, levies and service fees are subject to change.
As of 01-Jan-2015, In addition to the previous 20% tax on room rate and purchases, there is an additional VAT of 7.5%, 12%* (as of July 1, 2018), making a total tax on room rate and purchases of 37.5%. This also applies to additional adult fees (for more than two person ages 12 and older staying in the same room), but does not apply to the mandatory gratuity and utility fees. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/05/30/vat-hike-to-12-percent/

If the sun is out and it isn't too windy you don't mind getting out, if it is overcast and windy, when you get out you are pretty cold. I don't know if they are "Heated" but off hand i would say no. They aren't cold, but the pools certainly aren't warm.
I am from the south and have spoken with a few of our cousins from the north (Canada) and they don't seem to mind it nearly as much as me, but they left several feet of snow to come here so YMMV
EDIT: DEFINITELY NOT HEATED - Yesterday was very hot and sunny and I didn't notice as much, today is cloudy, but only 2 degrees colder, but the water is freezing, you shiver the minute you get in and out. So, my initial conclusion stands, my ability to tolerate the temp of the water is directly proportional to the strength of the sun at that time.

Checked in yesterday....
I didn't push for any benefits, but i did push for how our reservations are handled
The check in person and the casino host had the same answer, so......
Basically we are checked in as a "Casino guest" so, we aren't a guest at the hotel, we are just occupying the room
No benefits - I was also told that benefits are the result of a paid stay (either $$ or points) but between being comped the room and being a guest of the Casino, that they don't provide any normal Marriott Autograph benefits
One thing that irked me is they put a $450 hold on my CC (I don't care about the hold per se, but $450, I think that is a bit steep but oh well)
I am oddly fine with this - other than the fact the prices are literally stupid for stuff - but you do get 2 free bottle of water daily - that saves you like $7 a day LOL
Wifi is surprisingly fast
Thats all I got - enjoy your stay

Daily:
Room fees and taxes - gratis
Beach gratiuity $5
Resort fee (beach towers) $49.95 + $5.99 VAT
IF you are a diamond - you get beach towers and no waiver of fees
BUT
If you are a Diamond (>40,000 Tier Credits) AND it is off-peak (then you get Royal tower instead of beach also) or Seven Stars anytime
- then you should get resort fees waived - I never asked if it was off-peak because it didn't matter for me
Make sure to check restaurants you want to dine at, a ton are closed Sun/Mon cause there is literally no one there - although depends on when you are going
So, I guess if your reservation is for Royal towers you may have an off-peak or be a >40,000 Diamond
To be honest, my Platnium is due to retired military, I have like 2200 tier credits as I don't gamble enough to matter, so I rarely pay much attention to the higher classes as I will never get there nor have any real desire to attain them - I am grateful for the 3 free nights and leave it at that.

Looking to book 8 rooms here, but wanting the most upscale option for accommodations. Would that be The Cove? Ideally, we would want the most elegant rooms, but then to have access to the family-friendly amenities like water park, etc. Anybody have recommendations for the most luxe accommodations here? How is the club lounge?

My understanding is the Cove is the more "upscale" option and gives access to all the other hotel amenities/services, where others can't get access to the Cove services.

For what it’s worth I will never go back to Atlantis. One visit was enough and I was supremely underwhelmed and felt like the staff just didn’t care about anything. All restaurants have mandatory tip applied to bill so wait staff have zero incentive to work. One experience had us looking for food around 5pm, well before the rush and no less than five wait staff in a small spot standing around talking while we sat waiting for someone to take our order
highlight of trip though was swimming with sea lions

Ocean Club (technically not Atlantis property, actually Four Seasons - have read this property has access but not first hand knowledge)
Cove
Reef
Royal
Coral
Beach
Harborside (timeshare)
All of the above have access to the waterpark facilities, some positioned further from the others.
Not aware of club lounge as I only stayed at Royal and there weren't any there (or the Beach/Coral) Did not check the others.

They did not waive resort fee at the Royal Towers.
Did you get nights credit and MR points?

Now, that said, the guy who I asked the second night and showed me the plat card where you make your choice and all that put my MR number in the reservation, but Marriott website is clear that it is not an eligible stay, so i did not receive nor did I expect points or night credit.
I did get MR points for a Marriott (6x) on my Marriott CC I used for food and resort fees etc

I notice many are asking about the benefits and experience when you redeem the Total Rewards comp.
I stayed last month and wrote a crazy detailed review of the experience. I doubt there’d be a question that you can’t find the answer to. Btw I did earn MR points but had to submit the bill for credit.

“In fact, even if you are only Caesars Total Rewards Platinum, you have access to this offer, however you’re limited to 3 nights in the Beach Tower.
For Diamond, even matched base level Diamond, you get 4 nights in the Beach tower at peak times, but 4 nights in the Royal Tower off-peak.”
(Note that I don’t consider the Gold deal a deal based on the actual selling prices of the Beach tower)
