Awesome news! ^

With the best location for travel (across from the Stazione Centrale), this is a brand new hotel that was rebuilt inside of the gorgeous Belle Epoque outer walls of the old Excelsior Hotel Gallia. Almost everything except the facade of old hotel, including most interior walls and an ugly 1970s addition to the South, has been torn down and rebuilt, so it is truly a brand new hotel. With Katara's money behind it it'll probably be quite spectacular.

It's nice to see this property remain in the Starwood portfolio; there were rumors that it wouldn't.

PS It's not bookable yet and it does not have its own page, but it's listed at https://www.starwoodhotels.com/corpo.../all/list.html

No standard suites

Apparently their roster of suites starts at the category of Executive Suite, so no standard suites?… I bet this is some sleazy trick for no suite upgrades at check-in and no SNAs...

This has nothing to do with using SNAs! You can use the SNAs for every suite in the SNA pool!

I just made a reservation for next summer and noticed that the parking rates are interesting.

I would be willing to bet that the Executive Suites are NOT in the pool of standard suites for the purpose of Plat upgrades at check-in upon availability.

For me that is precisely why they're calling it "Executive Suite" when they don't have any other, lower category of full suites on site.

Hey, but I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong….

The SNA upgrade is for the first category of suites at an SPG hotel--assuming the hotel isn't considered an all-suite property. Unless the property has some exemption, the Executive Suite would be the entry suite category (assuming they don't have a Junior Suite category, of course).
