Courtyard New York Manhattan/Central Park [Master Thread]
Hi,
I am looking at the new hotel Courtyard Manhattan/Central Park that just opened in new york. I don't know if they have a bug in the system but the price seem very good.
I got a standard room for $189 a night in march. It is strange because the advance purchase or special AAA price is $297.
Anyone knows about this new hotel?

Hi,
I am looking at the new hotel Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park that just opened in new york. I don't know if they have a bug in the system but the price seem very good.

1717 broadway.
I have never been to NY so I have no idea if the location is great or not.
But I still think there is an issue with their website. The guest room king is 189 but the guest room queen is 349 for hte same date. A great bug I think

I did see some wackiness with the rates too, but 3/14, 3/15 seems to be cheaper in all the NYC properties for some reason.

We've had reports of other hotels when recently opened that had some low rates (Lexington, Autograph Collection NYC comes to mind). If you can get a standard room for $189, book it while it's still available! Print out the reservation confirmation so you'll have back-up documentation.
Cheers.

Not just your run-of-the-mill building
I live not too far away from this property, so I'm unlikely to stay there, except on a mattress run, but this is a somewhat noteworthy building. It was nominally started in 2009, but not much happened until 2011, I assume due to economic conditions.
1717 Broadway (at 55th St.) starts out with 5 floors of lobby/restaurants/meeting rooms, etc., then a few mechanical floors, then 26 floors of Courtyard, a few more mechanical floors, then 29 floors of Residence Inn, and some more mechanical floors at the top. It is either 67 or 68 floors total, depending on where you look, and is 753 feet tall. That makes it the 20th tallest building in NYC at the moment, but there are at least 4 buildings under construction in midtown that will be taller.
The building is being described as the tallest all-hotel building in the Western Hemisphere, and I haven't yet seen a challenge to that claim from anywhere.
The floor plans are fairly narrow, as many of the new tall buildings here tend to be, and it occupies only a small portion of a square block. But the views of Central Park from the Residence Inn part, if you can get a North-facing room, should be spectacular.

NYC Courtyard Manhattan Central Park Trip Report
Hi,
I recently returned from a stay of two nights (as Platinum) at this property and thought others might enjoy a trip report (or my attempt at one).
I was originally looking into some other properties but decided on this one primarily because it was a pointsaver, brand new, and the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere. I chose the Courtyard over the Residence Inn because it was less points.
Check in staff were very friendly and I asked if an upgrade was available. They checked and said they could upgrade me to a corner room with a view of Times Square.
The "Platinum gift" consisted of 400 points AND an item from the Bistro/Market. She seemed to keep mentioning a Starbucks coffee from the bistro on the 4th floor and I ended up getting this.
Overall the property was very modern. There was a Keurig coffee machine in the room, fridge, Alarm clock with iPhone dock and USB ports for power, USB power ports in phone, and extra power sockets built into the desk. I had a corner room on the 26th floor with some great views including Times Square. The bed was also very comfortable.
I also managed to use the Gym while I was there which was up on the 35 floor.
The Gym had a bunch of bikes and treadmills against the window, some free weights, and other large weight machines. There was also an outside balcony which I was able to explore.
I've tried to include as many pics as possible to help and those can be found below.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the report, timetosave. I think I may give this property a shot rather than the Fairfield in the garment district next trip. Just to clarify, are the CY rooms on the higher floors, or are those the Residence Inn rooms?

Thanks for letting me know. The days I were looking at there was no difference in the number of points needed for a single-night redemption, so I'll stick with the RI.

Staying at this property now so thought I'd provide an update. Rooms are still very well maintained and fresh, and not as small as many other Manhattan hotels. The design maximizes the small space pretty well, with a desk, armoire/closet, and spacious bathroom with a short tub.
My Gold status was mentioned at check in, but I wasn't offered anything for it as others seem to have upthread, although I'm on an "Elite" floor. I'm here the next few days and happy to answer any questions others may have.

Old thread, so this maybe time for an update.
Courtyard New York Manhattan/Central Park is integrated with the Marriott Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Central Park. In reality they are the same building with just different room setups on different floors. All facilities are shared, including the address, lobby, fitness center and 4th floor lounge/breakfast area. The only noticeable distinction between the two is the separate elevator banks in the lobby.
The 1717 Broadway entrance is closed; the real address and entry is around the corner at 231 W. 54th Street. Not inconvenient. Good, clean area with many food options, located between Columbus Circle/Central Park (15 minute walk) to the north and Times Square (10 minutes) to the south.
Facilities all seemed clean and well-maintained. A minor inconvenience with the bathtub drain was quickly resolved. Never encountered any noticeable elevator delay over the four day stay.
Covid- Mask usage everywhere in the building was very consistent. The 4th floor Starbucks and food area were no longer setting out a breakfast buffet, instead it was configured as “Grab and Go” although many were still choosing to ‘grab and stay’ to eat in the nice open lounge areas. I was told twice by the front desk that Grab & Go was not free except for Residence Inn guests. However, the breakfast selection was good and there was no employee or even facilities set up to accept payment so there must have been some miscommunication.
King Corner room was compact, but not less then expected in Manhattan. Not really a complaint, but I will observe that paying for a “corner” room may lead to disappointment. Although the main wall window is large, our window on the ‘corner’ was maybe 2-3 foot wide and only looked out at the balcony of the next room.
