Stuttgart Marriott Hotel Sindelfingen [Master Thread]

No official information yet, but it seems that the Stuttgart Marriott is leaving the chain on July 1st - no more rooms available on Marriott.com after that (however also not on any other site)...

Anyone has more information on this hotel? They also may be closing for renovations (direly needed), but since there is no mentioning on marriott.com of this I rather think it's leaving. While renovations would be very important this would mean another major city in Germany without Mariott-presence and at least the third Marriott-branded property closing within the last two years with no new hotels in that time-span...

Greetings - Dirk

There are major issues with Marriott in Germany in my view - investment needed

Congratulations on your 3000th post....

The property in Stuttgart seems to be up for sale and the real estate owner doesnt want to extend the contract further than June 30th. There seems to be a possible buyer who wants to extend the contract with Marriott.
The only arcticle i could find is from January:
http://www.szbz.de/nachrichten/news-detail/776670.html

Besides that, the Courtyard Regensburg will become an Ibis Hotel during June, it isnt bookable anymore through Marriott.
The article says that it might get downgraded from 4 to just 2 stars.
I only got that German article on it: http://www.wochenblatt.de/nachrichte...art1172,179159

Not just Marriott, IC too - IC Hamburg went bankrupt earlier this year and now there is no IC in Hamburg.

It's sad to see Regensburg CY changed to Ibis - one less choice for a Marriott in the region.

Stuttgart Marriott Hotel Sindelfingen

Is this hotel being closed ? No reservation can be made after June, 2013.

Last date I show it bookable is June 29th. Agent I spoke with says it doesn't show on the sold list, but can't book anything either so transferred me to int'l cust svc. Will see if they can call the hotel & ask. My guess is they're either closing for renovation or they're leaving the Marriott family.

Cheers.

It's official

Property is leaving Marriott family. Last night it's bookable is June 29th. I've updated the exec lounge sticky to reflect that.

Cheers.

Good riddance, it was an awful hotel!

If you want a wonderful place to stay in Stuttgart, I'd recommend Der Zauberlehrling.

It was a fantastic property (it's a small boutique hotel with its own cooking school).

Do you get MR points for staying and elite nights and 'unexpected bonus'? :D

There were two unexpected bonuses: one was magical brooms sweeping the hallway without human assistance, the other was an amazing breakfast thanks to the fact that the hotel is also a cooking school.

Sindelfingen is a suburb or small town near Stuttgart. It's where the main Mercedes plant is for European delivery vehicle pick ups, including factory tour, museum, and very nice on site restaurant for lunch. Especially after getting the car, it would be more convenient to stay in Singelfingen than struggle to navigate Stuttgart for the night if you have no reason to be in Stuttgart and just want a good rest before driving elsewhere.

Agree. But now that there's no Marriott there, folk will have to look to other properties/chains if they want points.

Cheers.

Or pick small locally owned hotels in Singelfingen. There are some decent choices with pretty good restaurants.

The restaurant is quite nice, especially the signature dessert.

My article on Mercedes' European Delivery has a slide show at the end with food shots from the restaurant as well as lots of details about the experience as I went through the day. I only pick up cars at the factory and this was a fun delivery.
