Do you mind stating what the upgrade was? I just booked a 5 night stay with points and paid the extra 100 euros per night for the larger room. Also Plat.

I consider saving the 500 euros and requesting an upgrade.

Thanks for the responses. I wasn't sure about breakfast and am glad to hear that it's available. I'd love an upgrade, as we're going for a birthday and to demonstrate to the city that I live up to my user name.

I would save the 500 EUR and take your chances...no reason to pay for an upgrade as a Plat.

Any chance of a junior suite upgrade from a larger room as Plat? The Marriott online rate is about 100 euros for the suite compared to the larger room.

Is there a chance? Yes, there is always a chance.

Is it possible? Yes, it is always possible.

thanks. Could you recommend someone to contact by email in advance? Worked for me in Sydney recently. Room with a great view of the Opera house.

Nice property. I've been in at least 5 rooms here, and they range from smallish to decent size, and there is a Junior suite with a Patio on the ground floor inner courtyard. I wouldn't take that one though, it feels like a Hampton Inn room. All the other rooms are nice too, but beware, some are smoking.

An excellent breakfast is provided for Platinum. Excellent bar right across the street.

A few days before your stay begins, you will receive an email. In it, you can use the virtual concierge to make a request. If you are celebrating a special occasion, that always helps.

Someone else might have the GM's email as well.

That's a problem for us. Are they restricted to one floor? Is the Marriott Champs Elysees totally non-smoking?

This free breakfast buffet you mention was on a Rewards stay or paid stay?

area restaurant recommendations?

Any recommendations for dinner in the area? Aware of the Irish pub, although never dined there.

Thoughts?
I stayed here last September with my wife on an awards stay (I am platinum). We were upgraded to a bigger room (still pretty small) but it did offer a small balcony overlooking the street and was on the top floor. We also received free breakfast daily for 2, which was a pretty good deal as I think they charged something like 30 Euro per person. I would never pay that much, but it was a decent buffet. There is no lounge and they didn't offer anything in lieu of that besides the free breakfast.

The hotel's rooms are small and I don't think I would pay what they were asking for a room (more than 500 euro a night, and that was for their smallest rooms), but the location is really good. Close to many restaurants, museums and metro stops.

Again asking whether any FTer's might have suggestions for restaurants they liked in the area for dinner. Thanks.
