Anyone stay recently? (sorry if I missed a more complete thread)
Staying on the Cote d'Azur for last two nights of 3 city France trip. Trying to decide if we should stay here, or the LeMeriden in Monaco. I'm MR Plat and my wife is *wood Gold. Just looking for a covinent base to explore Monte Carlo. We will have a car. Don't care about food on site as we'll be using points to drop some bucks on the Michelin restaurants in MC.
Thanks!

Stayed for one night in June, 2012. I would say that we liked the hotel. But it comes with several comments. VERY difficult to find by car due to construction and an unusual location. We had a great GPS and still missed the hotel a couple of times. Parking garage is a little odd, service at the front entrance seems to be minimal. But the front desk is helpful, the free Platinum breakfast is nice, the rooms were clean and decent, the outdoor bar area was very pleasant. I took a cab into Monaco when I wanted to go to the casino because of concerns about parking. That may have been a mistake because it took me a long time to find a cab to get back to the hotel, but I made it and I had a good time.

+1............ very difficult to find even when there isn't construction too.......

Parking underground with the entrance in the back by the tennis courts not clearly marked as parking for the hotel. You can get into the front of the hotel, by the boat berths, if you use the pay machine, but only park there under 30-minutes then no charge (good to drop off baggage).

Travel suggestion for Monaco. See the Jardin de Exotique. We really enjoyed it. (nothing to do with Marriott - just the location)

Thanks all for the updates. I booked it today. Decided Marriott over the *wood since as only Gold there we wouldn't get breakfast. And prices seems more across the street in Monaco. I'll share my thoughts after the stay.

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago. At the time I booked it they weren't charging cash as well as points for the stay which Nice were which is why we went for it. They are now doing this too.

The hotel itself is nice, there's no lounge but we did get free breakfasts as a Platinum. Most of the rooms look out over the harbour and the Med which is very pleasant. It is close to the heliport so there are helicopters passing fairly frequently but to be fair it didn't bother meat all. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. They run a shuttle bus into Monaco although it's a fairly easy walk too. If you want to take the bus it's advisable to book to be sure of getting on. The gym is a room with a couple of exercise bikes in a different building and there is also an outdoor pool. It didn't look appealing in early April but is probably fine now it's warmer.

Hope his helps.

As mentioned before, this was a bit hard to find initially. As Marriott Gold, was upgraded to larger room with harbor view, plus free breakfast and a drink at the lobby bar. Borderline 4*, but staff was extremely friendly and hotel shuttle was very useful to get around the city.

My wife and I spent a day in Monte Carlo back in August; it was a port on a HAL cruise which we took. Upon returning home, out of curiousity I checked rates for a few dates in October. All were well < €200 per night. Since we didn't stay there I can't comment on the hotel itself, but Monte Carlo was incredibly safe and clean. The public transportation is unreal; the busses were very clean and the operators all wore white shirts, ties and white jackets. I believe a one day pass cost €5.
