This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

Nice Hotel - Well kept
I just returned 2 days ago. Nice resort, Nice Staff. Rooms could use a little updating, but decent by Caribbean standards. Comfortable beds. Resort View rooms are just fine (We had 359 which overlooked the pool and beach). Great snorkeling off the beach. We were also able to use Bonus Bucks!

The beach is fine, I would just recommend water shoes if going into the ocean. The Snorkeling right off the beach is amazing; some of the best I have ever seen. Many guests are European so topless sunbathing / speedos are not uncommon.
I would disagree that Curacao is expensive. We have been to St. John, St Lucia, St Martin, Puetro Rico, Cancun, Costa Rica, etc and it is about average in price for the Carribean and a Marriott resort. Curacao is an OK destination, not too much to see, but certainly not the terrible place some have made it out to be... If you go, try their frozen Mojitos!

Having stayed at maybe 50 Marriotts and 15 JW Marriotts across the world, I agree completely with the naysayers--AVOID the Curacao Marriott. It is not terrible--but nothing special either. Nor is the island anything special compared to many others around the US.
Aruba Marriott--definitely a better choice than Curacao.
If I was thinking "Caribbean" and had to go with Marriott, I would choose either the St. Kitts Marriott--newer hotel, beautiful island; or Cancun--preferably the JW Marriott but the Marriott next door is not too bad.
Better yet--think about Hawaii, preferably the JW Marriott on Ohau. Have not stayed at any of the other Hawaiian Marriotts, but Kauai gets great reviews.
Interestingly, most of the major hotel chains are weak in the Caribbean--the only Hilton that has impressed me in the Caribbean is Barbados. The exception with respect to hotel chains being disappointing in the Caribbean is Starwood, which seems to have some great Westins (St Martin and soon to be in Dominican Republic) and Luxury properties.

The reason I chose to go to The Curacao Marriott was seeing a beautiful picture of its beach in the elavator of the Marriott Gaslamp hotel in San Diego. So YES--photos of the property are misleading.

Thanks
I am going to the JW n Cancun in a couple of weeks, I have also visited Aruba Marriott, St Kitts, St Thomas, Ritz-Jamaica and Cayman Is. I just wanted to try something new, but I will pass on Curaco. Thanks again for your input.

I agree with both of these points. Although returning from Hawaii--you can avoid a 'red eye' by flying to Los Angeles or San Francisco in the afternoon, staying overnight, and continuing to the midwest or east coast the following day.

Considering staying here and have a few questions:
1. From the pics I've seen, is the beach unusually narrow? It appears to be but might be an optical illusion.
2. Someone mentioned driving/renting a car. Left or right side of street? Any special license required?
TIA.
