We attended a meeting at the Hyatt though we did not stay there as it was so far away from the strip. The hotel is lovely, the restaurants are very expensive and a small casino. The Ritz too is lovely with expensive restaurants and the all over Ritz feeling. The shopping court or Italian Village is not yet quite full with shops, but it is a pleasant detraction. The homes in the area are magnificent. We preferred the casino at the Ritz. Both properties were quite quiet during the week unless a meeting is being held there. As I recall the attendees staying at the Hyatt did not like staying so far out with limited choices for dining or even a snack. There is nothing else nearby. Hope this helps!

Stayed at the JW in January. Nice room(awesome bathroom w/rainfall shower and spa tub) but very far from the strip. If you plan on going downtown more than once, I would not recommend the JW. About a 20min drive w/light traffic.

Anybody have anything new to add regarding this property? I'm giving my wife a spa treatment for our anniversary (She's paying for my golf) did anyone go to the spa and if so how was it?

LAS Monorail

Now that the Las Vegas monorail is finally open, I'm considering staying at one of the Marriotts near the convention center. From what I can see, there are 3 properties there (Marriott Suites, Courtyard & Residence Inn). Does anyone know just how far each of these properties are from the monorail station at the convention center?

It would be about a five minute walk, tops. Just a block east and across Paradise Road.

Here's a review of my experience from the Las Vegas Forum...

Las Vegas Convention Center Station is located at the intersection of Paradise Road and Desert Inn Road. Here is a map: (just click on the Map link on this page):

Thanks for the info, but I'm trying to get a bit more specific. The Marriott Suites is on Convention Center Dr between Debbie Reynolds and Paradise. The Courtyard is on Paradise close to the Desert Inn Rd (with the RI next door).

Where is the monorail station? Is it at the corner of Paradise and Desert Inn or is it closer to the corner of Paradise and Convention Center Dr?

Thanks again,

Stayed at the suites about two months ago. Nice property and good staff. The monorail station could be seen out my window and could not have been more than a half block. I'm guessing something in the neighborhood of 1000 feet. There is a parking lot that you have to go around to get to it though. It is the closest of the three properties you mentioned and when I booked it, the cheapest. Go figure.

There are not many of the suites in the system any more, so if you have not tried one this is your chance. Laid out like a RI only much nicer.

l4p,

Thanks for the info. That's what I'm looking for. I'm going to struggle to reup my platinum status with Marriott and even my LAS trips will involve Marriott stays.

BTW, the only Marriott Suites I've stayed at is the one at IAD. It was rather nice and great prices on the weekend.

No, not necessarily stupid. This is the first phase of a multi-stage project that is expected to eventually include a connection to LAS.

If it's the monorail you want, dont stay at the CY Hughes Center. Too far to walk. The Marriott Suites are directly accross the street from the convention center terminal however.

I had heard that the taxi/limo lobbyist had successfully influenced the city from including an airport connection ( for obvious reasons )
