Marriott East Side: No Reports?

I did a search and exceot for some minor references, no one has done a review of the Marriott East side. Narquis and RR sold out. My boss is picky, What ill we experience?

Thanks!

Nice hotel in a good location away from Times Square. Not as touristy as Marquis.

East Side

Our family (wife and two teen-age kids) stayed there for one week a couple of years ago over the Christmas holiday. We liked the hotel very much. It's an older hotel in style, but has been renovated to some degree - still has the "charm" of the older hotel.

Rooms are average in size, even on the concierge floor. The lounge was pretty good, and the concierge was a very nice lady, seemed to enjoy her job very much. We enjoyed talking with her in the evenings.

Location is excellent - near Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal is only a short walk, as is Central Park. You can walk to the theater district in 10-15 minutes or so. If you stay there (and like bagels) be sure to walk over to 831 3rd Avenue to Essa-Bagels. Five minutes to the best NY bagels :)

All in all a very pleasant hotel - would not hesitate to stay there again. A much different atmosphere than the Marquis, more "personal".

I stay there a couple of nights a year. Last time was about 4 months ago. Perfectly nice hotel. Good rates available on Sundays particularly.

I've stayed here a couple times but not for the last year or so. Last visit they had not installed High Speed Internet Access in the guest rooms and that's my number one requirement at a hotel. I can't deal with dial-up, especially in NYC with the antiquated telco system.
Other than HSI, I don't remember anything unusually good or bad with the property.

Salisbury,
Most of the info you need on Marriott East Side is at HotelScoop:
http://www.hotelscoop.com/hotelDetai...p?Hotelid=5185

including pictures of the hotel (bedroom, bathroom, common areas, etc.). I put a review of the hotel in there too.

Good luck.

I will echo the previous posters description of this hotel -- it is generally a very nice hotel The bedding in particular stands out as better than the vast majority of Marriotts. One thing to watch out for -- the hotel has several different room sizes. The largest rooms are significantly larger. The smallest rooms are VERY small. The hotel has a room map at the front desk, and they have been very accommodating to moving me into a larger room when I was preassigned a smaller one -- but I often have to ask.

very good ratings according to the folks that post at http://biddingfortravel.com then again, priceline afficianados tend to be less demanding than the elite crowd.

the location is very good, around the corner from the waldorf and not far from Grand Central or the subway E-Train stop on Lex which links to the JFK airtrain.

Best Upgrade @ Marriott East Side in NYC?

Hello All - just polling to see who has gotten what at the Marriott East Side. I am curious to know how nice they are to Plats and Golds. Please post your upgrade (or downgrade!) and status level.
