This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

I have not stayed at the Marriott Stellaris, only the Westin. However, the pool at the Westin is not very big and is overrun by families and children, some of whom do not necessarily have the same barriers and concept of personal space as Americans.

I've stayed at both. The Marriott is the nicer property with a better pool, rooms, gym, and beach. However, the Westin is still a nice place to stay and if the price differential was significant I'd be fine staying at the Westin again.

Question New Ritz-Carlton Aruba

Does anyone have specific information on when this resort might open? I saw somewhere that 2014 is the goal, but no more information can be found regarding an opening time-frame.

These dates usually fluctuate wildly. Don't hold your breath.

+1 for the Marriott. Crowded beach (get there early or pre-reserve palapas) and fantastic pool - not too crowded.

According to a recent post here they'll start accepting reservations this October for stays starting this December:

Framing is up, but I think December is a little optimistic.

Current, (recent) Aruba property comments/reviews?

I searched using several different queries and can not seem to find any recent comparisons of the three Aruba properties, (Ren, Stellaris and MVC). Can somebody point me in the right direction. Best I came up with was some threads from 2006 - 2009:

So, any input from recent stays?

This is one of at least a dozen relevant threads since 2010:

Aruba Marriott Stellaris - tradewinds?

We are leaving in the morning for a week at the Aruba Stellaris and have heard good and bad things about the tradewinds floor upgrade. We are gold so do you think there is any chance they will upgrade us to the tradewinds floor if something is available? If not, is it worth the money to upgrade?

Also, any recommendations of things to do other than lay on the beach?

Thanks for your help.

1) No
2) do you drink a lot? IF the answer is yes then I would do it.

1. No, there is no chance that you will get upgraded to Tradewinds without paying for it. Doesn't matter if you are a base member or Plat Premier. And Silver/Gold are very easy to get with Marriott. Platinum is easy to get these days too.

I heard a few people throwing around the "I am a Gold member" at check in during my recent stay. I wanted to turn to them and say, "I'm Platinum Premier and I'll be joining you on the second floor, so get over yourself. "

2. If you drink, yes. If you don't, then no.
