"If you are one of the top three bidders for this package, you will have the opportunity to submit an audition tape, of you singing "The Star Spangled Banner", to the Cubs for review. One of the three will be selected by the Cubs to sing before the July 18 Cubs vs. Mets game. The other two top bidders will get their Starpoints back and a pair of tickets each to the SPG Luxury Suite for a game of their choice during the second half of regular-season play."

Based on the text, it seems like if you have no desire to sing the national anthem, you can bid in the top three, submit the all time worst video of you singing the national anthem (thus guaranteeing you won't be picked), and then get all of your Starpoints back as well as free tickets to another game. I guess the biggest risk is if you get three people all using this strategy and the video you submit somehow happens to be less terrible than the other two, then you're out the points and you have to perform in front of thousands of people.
I never read the description of that moment, but that is hilarious and awesome.

US Open Tennis 2016 SPG Moments

anyone has any idea

(1) when these will appear on spg moments (last year it appeared in july only...)
(2) what dates will be covered?

for tennis fans: us open presale just opened for amex cardholders so i'm debating between buying a general grounds pass or waiting for these to open up and snap up one of them

if anyone took screenshots of the past moments that were available and how much i'd appreciate it, can't see them anymore on the moments site.

We did the Cubs Take the Field moment on Sunday. 20,000 points = 2 tickets to the game plus your kid (ages 7-12, I think) gets to take the field with one of the Cubs before the game.

I have to admit: it was pretty awesome. My daughter loved it. Starwood does this for a few Sunday games throughout the year, so here are the details if you're thinking of doing it:

- The 2 included tickets are quite good. Behind home plate, lower level, about 20 rows from the field. Face value if you were to buy them from the box office is $110 each, although they probably aren't available that way.

- We attempted to request a player through Starwood, but the Cubs personnel just assign them randomly. We were assigned Kris Bryant, so no complaints about that at all.

- After you give Starwood your information (a week or two prior to the game), you pick the tickets up at VIP will call and enter the stadium through the VIP entrance.

- The Cubs usher down near home plate was very good at shuffling people around so that additional family/friends could sit down there close at the top of the 1st inning. Once the kids do their thing, everybody else of course has to go back to their regular seats....with 2 people remaining in the prime seats.

- The website doesn't mention it, but you get a brand-new official MLB baseball that the player signs when he runs out to your kid at his position. They give you a ballpoint pen (the kind you want for a baseball autograph) so you get a nice signature on the ball.

Well worth the 20,000 points! ^

To add to this. It looks like SPG moments releases the tickets in July. Does anyone remember how many points the suites and court-side tickets were last year? I did not see it in previous posts.

I was wondering do you think its possible that Ticket Scalpers buy some of these tickets or would it be possible? I didn't think the name on your account had to match who is going since you could just say "These tickets are for my dad or something" but I hope I'm wrong. I could picture some of these concert tickets being scooped up by ticket scalpers especially the ones in the Suites. They could have an SPG Business card and have tons of points on them. I mean some of those concert seats like Adele sold out in seconds and on the second market you could have sold them for tons of money if it was possible to scalp them.

Both times I have gotten Cubs suite tickets, they were left at will call - not mailed/FedEx'ed to me. I guess it would be possible to scalp and list a different will call name, but it wouldn't be possible to sell them on StubHub etc. very easily.

Similar story with concert tickets - I've gotten a few events over the years, and they're usually held for delivery until a week or so prior to the event then delivered by FedEx. Doesn't prevent scalping, but definitely discourages it.

Finally - each member is limited to 6 SPG moments packages per year, which also would make it difficult for scalpers.

I'm sure it happens in some cases on a small scale, but the restrictions SPG has put in place to discourage it are reasonable and likely appreciated by the majority of members IMO.

Is there a special reason why there are almost no golf events anymore? I loved their golf events in the past.

My Cubs tickets 2 weeks ago were at will call. Would've been really difficult to scalp them, other than the old-fashioned way of just selling outside the stadium. Certainly an option to get some money back if you suddenly couldn't use the tickets, but not really a profitable way to monetize Starpoints.

Question

Was there any change over the last days? Today I was told the second time by a platinum concierge in Cork that I won't get stay an night credit for my two night moments stay...

I also found this in T&C:

Hotel stays included within SPG Moments offers earn status towards elite if the redeeming/winning member consumes the stay but do not earn Starpoints and do not count as either stays or nights toward promotional requirements

Seems to be the same as William posted some years again...

As for receiving elite member benefits, properties are encouraged (but apparently not forced) to extend all elite member benefits to keep in line with the SPG program itself.

Snagged myself a Formula 1 hospitality day (not race day) with Mercedes after many attempts at various races. Anybody got first hand experience of one of these?

SPG Moments PGA Championship - weather question

I have sent an email to the spgmoments team, but figured I would ask here as well in case this has come up previously for any outdoor experiences. I redeemed my SPG points for this Friday for 2 tickets to PGA Championship with suite access, etc. Right now, the weather looks iffy at best. Obviously, if its some rain, players generally play through it as long as course is playable.

My question is what happens if there are rain delays/play is suspended and 2nd round is not complete by the time darkness falls. Would I be entitled to all of my SPG points back? Partial refund of points? Like I said, I am waiting for official answer from SPG, but curious if this has happened to anyone on this forum?

Thanks!!
