Beautiful hotel, private entrance. Basically go through the plaza Indonesia west entrance, and make a right prior to the EX mall.

Just checked in. Was told we were the 5th guest to check in. Booked the room with my wife's free night award. She has no status with *wood, and was given a grand deluxe room.

First impression of the room, Spacious. Quite similar to St Regis' rooms. The wifi is highly unstable, but I'm sure it is just teething issue.

I'll post some pictures once I figure out how to post it.

Wow, a cat 5 for Jakarta must be really quite something!

I stayed at the Dharmawangsa last time in Jakarta and loved it. Might just try this out next time.

I think the Grand Deluxe Room is the standard room available at this property

Was thinking of giving it a try since I am nearby, but at USD300++ I think I get better value at the St Regis Singapore.

Ouch. That's a bit high for CGK.

Yup, it is! Considering my wife has no elite status, it makes sense that she was given a grand deluxe room. But the room is bigger than most Standard room at the St. Regis.. $360 Nett per night is rather costly, but considering what you're getting, it is worth the money. I am not a regular St. Regis level of customer, mostly Sheraton and Westins, but if I'm travelling with my family, I do occasionally splurge and book a suite at the St. Regis.

We got a butler who seems genuinely caring and helpful. Since ours was an award night, we didn't try the breakfast. but no worries, the hotel is linked to the Plaza Indonesia Mall, where there are loads of restaurants to choose from.

Pictures

Here's the pictures I promised. Sorry the photography isn't that great.

The entrance to the room. High ceiling. Oversize doors.

Unmade bed and sofa . Behind the bed is actually a pair of sliding panel that opens up to the bathroom.

View of Jakarta's CBD from one of the windows.

Work Area with a small but rather noisy LCD monitor.

An Excellent toilet flush controls system. Warm air to dry your butt... Hmmm... Gotta get me one ...

His and hers...

Basically the price the hotel is charging for a night is above what I usually pay for a room. However, if you can afford it, it has excellent service, excellent location, and a room that commensurate with price.

NOTE: Gotta fix the wifi and the internet. Weak wifi signal and internet going on and off every few minutes. Took me over an hour just to post this message. Somebody did come and fix it though. ^

Kinda reminds me of why I stopped staying at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta - their
internet was flaky, and very slow when working. I finally got fed up and
switched after 5 years or so of staying there. Never went back.

Yup US$300 is definitely too high for a hotel in Jakarta. And it seems the room doesn't have a view? Unlike a room of similar standard in the MO and the Kempinski in the same area?
