AC Cuidad Seville, Spain [Master Thread]
Just completed a 2-night stay at the AC Cuidad Seville property.
If you're driving in it's real easy to find following the directions (signs to hospital and hotel off of "highway". Parking at the hotel (underground) a must as street parking taken over by hospital. Bed was nice queen sized platform. No 32" plasma, but 19" flat screen. THANKFULLY this property did not follow the Granada property way and allow AC usage only after 15 April as it was 39C/102F in Seville by 2 PM. Mini-bar (no charge) refilled daily, included Heineken and soft drinks. Parking E15/night. Breakfast E17/person. WiFi in common areas and 1 uable computer (but w/o printer) available. They have a small swimming pool - outside - which was just to cold to use (as it was in high 60's). Bathrooms offer the same 'funny' golfball shaped soap as the other AC I stayed at so I gather this is a standard. Local bus No. 1 or 37 takes you to park 1 block from Plaza Espana and downtown SPG Luxury Collection property area (walkable as no cars allowed). In talking with the office found out that the AC brand was formally part of the NH brand (which I had heard of as I've used both NH and Melia for previous trips/tours) |
Thanks for posting. I'm in the very early stages of planning a trip to Spain next year.
We'd probably arrive in Seville by train (from Madrid). From Google Maps, I'm guessing that the AC Hotel is about 2 miles from the train station (as the crow flies). Am I in the ballpark, or do you not know because you were driving? Seville has a Starwood property (Hotel Alfonso XIII, category 6) and now there is the AC Hotel to consider. I love Rick Steves books, but his maps are poor. I looked at his recommendations for Seville, and then compared to Google Maps. It looks like the Starwood property is more centrally located. From the Starwood, it looks like one could just walk to the major sites in town. The location of the AC Hotel appears to be about 1 1/2 miles further out. Are you saying that the local bus will get you into town (to visit the major tourist sites) easily? Do you know if the bus runs often (or maybe not, because it sounds like you had a car)? Thanks for any comments. |
Seville is NOT a city I enjoy driving in so I decided to park my rental at the AC and use the No. 1 or 37 to easily get into the center (10 minute ride and comes by the hotel at least every 10 minutes).
Yes, the Alfonso is in the best location of the city but they will be closing for renovations - don't know their schedukled reopening - and costs at least 5-6 times the AC. Sorry, can't help with a train station location as I was driving.

Checked in to the AC Ciudad Seville and the manager came out to greet us and was very nice. He upgraded our room and offered points or fruit plate so that all went very well.
BUT, we were advised we don't get the platinum wifi benefit, nor the included breakfast. I sent a quick email to Marriott, and they asked him to contact us. He provided one 24 hour wifi card for our three day stay that we are too stupid to make work, and repeated again that breakfast was not included and if Marriott Rewards told us it was then they made a mistake. |
go out of the hotel and turn L.......... walk a few steps to the corner and turn L.......... walk straight ahead and you'll find coffee/cake shop on the corner about a block up (if you turn R theres 2 other small rest with outside tables)...............if you want breakfast/breakfast, go straight about 3 blocks and you'll see a supermarket on the opposite corner.......... just beyond is a local hotel w seperate rest that we ate breakfast at each day - not $$$$$

Unfortunately, that breakfast rate "PKG" was not available when we made our reservations. I tried it at the time but it did not work. Since I had been told brekky would be included, I didn't bother contacting anyone to see why.
Breakfast is 17 e here so I am off to try to find a coffee place. We do not eat enough breakfast to make it worth 45 or so US for two people. |
Greetings - I hope to clear up some confusion with the recent launch of AC Hotels by Marriott.
The Guaranteed Lounge Access/Free Continental Breakfast benefit for Gold and Platinum Elite members is not available at AC Hotels by Marriott. This benefit remains only available in the Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge at participating JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels and Marriott Hotels & Resorts locations worldwide. However, in celebration of the new brand launch of AC Hotels by Marriott back in May, the hotels have been offering a complimentary breakfast buffet on two-day stays through January 8, 2012, using promotion code: PKG. Safe travels, Andy |
MRs now usable in most AC Hotels in Spain
Most AC Hotels in Spain can now (since early November) be reserved with Marriott Reward points. We just used 20K for AC Hotel Cordoba Palacio, geared to the business trade, ranked Category 4 in the Marriott system, equivalent to a CY -- but to my mind, a cut above. Very modern comfortable furnishings, good breakfast buffet. Husband's Platinum status was honored with welcome snack (or points), lovely room -- but no free breakfast, apparently. Breakfast buffet (again, better than a US offering, but definitely European business market) 18 euros. No special CL. Daily parking 18 euros.
Nonetheless, 20K MRs for a pleasant hotel right next to the old town, easy walk to the Mezquita and most tourist sites was a great deal! We'll check out the AC Hotel in Firenze when we go next spring. |
now that the AC by Marriotts have obtained there own threads, a note on this prop............. there are 3 ACs in Seville and if I had to choose which one to stay, I'd choose this prop (again) over the 2 others, especially if you're driving in/out of Seville...............

This prop was included on my 5th drive thru Andalucia
- driving into Seville - this hotel easy to find as its near a major hospital which has many road signs giving directions to it and Seville is NOT an easy city to get around in if you aren't very familiar with the CBD (if I weren't driving I might have opted for the Alfonso, but I've always driven this area) - didn't comply with the std 15 April turn on A/C system as others did and it was 39C so park your car and easy bus ride into/out of the city - several pretty good restaurants and pubs within 2 blocks walking distance - still desire in-room safety box at this and other ACs but that point notwithstanding I'd choose this prop over the local Melia (but use Melias in all other Melia/AC city choices) - modern amenities in-room - the other 2 ACs were not in the best areas of town where I'd feel OK taking a late evening walk with the Mrs

That's the type of info we're looking for ^, but could you explain why this one instead of the other 2 so people have a reference for your statement? Thx!

Hi all,
Just wanted to add my experience from a short visit to Sevilla: - Very welcoming check in experience. Upgraded to a suite. - Platinum gift at AC's is not really worth it (a small box of nuts), so I recommend the points - Asked about in-room Internet, was offered as many vouchers as I needed for free (you need one voucher per device per 24 hours) - Note about the parking: it is small, and can be difficult to maneuver, especially if the car opposite you did not fully get into their spot, so beware of renting large cars and staying there. To exit the parking, you need to get a token from reception for every exit. The suite was wonderful, although slightly noisy, as situated on the corner of the hotel facing 2 busy streets. Cheers, GenevaFlyer |
Thanks for the updated trip report!

I have to be in Seville for 2 nights in early February for work, so have been looking for a way to maximise the hotel benefits.
I had shortlisted the 3 AC hotels in Seville (as I have Marriott Gold and no SPG status) and needed to pick 2 out of the 3. I opted for the AC Cuidad and the AC Torneo, so will try and provide updates when I've visited. Chris |
good choice......of all the ACs I stayed at this is the only one I'd return to...

Chris But if you would, please start a new thread re: AC Torneo & post your trip report re: that property in that thread. We don't have a dedicated thread for the AC Torneo yet, and it would make it easier for those searching for info on AC Torneo if it has its own thread vs. being mingled in with others. Enjoy your trip! Cheers. |
