We were in HKG a few weeks back but went straight to downtown HKG hotel.

Seems like MINIMUM connect time for or Waterjet is 110 mins so our 5.35pm should be perfect for the 7pm Ferry.

Markis link seems to indicate booking the day before saves money?

Please excuse my ignorance but when Ferry arrives at Macau what is best way to get to Sheraton - a cab, or do they have some kind of regular shuttles? So Sheraton is pretty close to Ferry arrival?

So what time period from catching 7pm Ferry do you allow to get to Sheraton?

There goes our Happy Hour in the Lounge it looks like!

I missed these comments.

Ive never checked bags right through but if not too heavy then just carry them on, however, if its a free service to put them on the ferry directly itll save you time so give it a try.

Free Sands Cotai Central to Sheraton. Turn right after exiting ferry terminal and walk about 200 metres to buses. 1st stop is Holiday Inn and 2nd stop Sheraton.

You'll arrive at about 830 pm. Check in directly at the Executive lounge would save time. Its a shame youre missing the evening snacks - its literally a buffet!

Remember its Cotai Water Jet (blue ferry).

Sorry - do not follow this - you are suggesting we go from Macau to HK Central Station THEN to airport? This is all new to us - where is "Sheung Wan"?

In the way back you can get the ferry to Sheung Wan (HK-Macau ferry terminal) rather than going to airport then you can go one stop on the MTR to central and check in there before taking train to airport. This is only a solution if you have a few hours to kill before going to the airport. I mentioned this because you didnt want to wait around for 3 hours in the airport. Otherwise just take the ferry direct to the airport and spend more time in the lounge - Im sure there are worse things you could do! Actually I think theres even a cinema at the airport in Terminal 2!

I have done that flight and transfer combo this year, it works well. Keep in mind there are two ferries, Cotai Waterjet and Turbojet, you want Cotai as its closer to Sands via the free shuttle and off peak the day before deals are great value, inc beer in yr meal in first class.

FYI VA use the new lounge The Club Autus located in the Midfield Concourse (MFC) near Gate 211, its no bad.

Thanks guys .. great tips as always, and they will be useful for other future guests here I am sure.

It is all very confusing sounding for anyone never having been there before!

So Markis - those day before savings booking on line, are they modest or quite large -- have no idea of normal rates. It seems they are only bookable the day before travel right? And that deal works in both directions of travel?

A post above says these tickets are 20% off with Mastercard - I assume ozzie MasterCard work for that? If advance booking is not more than 20% off might save remembering to do it the day before?!

The "First Class" ticket looks to be about $A10 a person more than standard - worth doing you are saying? (If it is a hour Ferry ride and beer is included, sounds like it!

I don't think you can check your bags to Macau from Australia, you'll only be able to check them to HKG. But when you arrive in HKG and check in at the ferry ticketing counter (do not go through immigration), you'll show your checked bag receipt (and possibly describe your bag, I don't remember), and it will be retrieved for you and transferred onto the ferry, and you'll then pick it up in Macau.

Given the connection time required for the airport transfer, sometimes it can actually be quicker to clear immigration into HK, take the Airport Express to Central and then walk/taxi to Sheung Wan and jump on the next ferry to Macau from there (CotaiJet is every 30 minutes). But direct from the airport will probably just be easier in this case.

The special day before ticket for first is 50 % off, rates here https://www.cotaiwaterjet.com/ferry-...cau-taipa.html

You can also fly ahead so to speak if your early. The Sheraton is great when it comes to treatment of status guests, most unusual for a casino property, and the club has a buffet like few others. If you feel like a drink there is a beer vending machine on the first level of accomodation, or the department store in the shopping mall has a good selection of drinks as well.

The department store you mention: that would be the mini food hall in the Marks & Spencer? It's the only place I've found there that sells alcohol. It's always a bit irritating that there's not even a mini-mart in that part of Cotai let alone a proper supermarket. So the M&S is a lifesaver if you want booze cheaper than you get in the hotels although it's mostly their own brand beer, wine and spirits rather than local expected brands in Macau/HK. There's no other place right?

Where is the beer vending machine? I've never found this in six stays. I will go looking when I'm back at the Sheraton Macau for two nights over New Year. It's indeed one of my favourite hotels around here because of the rooms and lounge and proximity to the House of the Dancing Water show which is excellent. I note that Studio City has a new show called "Elektron". Anyone gone to this? I may try it over New Year.

Yes Marks and Spencer, and I was impressed with their wines, with quite a few local Australian labels although I was on a bit of a Chilean bend at the time given that’s what’s served in the lounge. The vending machine was on the 6th floor (one above food court) from memory in the earth tower, here was three or four machines, one with snacks, one with Knick knacks an one with beer including Tsing Tsao !

Looks like these are only valid for Macau to HK Downtown and vice versa - not airport - ditto the 20% off MasterCard deal? Even Senior Discounts do not even apply it seems?

We arrive Sunday so trying to mentally sort the best option. with our currency being on par with the Zimbabwe Dollar these days - need to be careful!

I don't think I've ever seen any discounts for Airport-->Taipa, whether on the Cotaijet website, Klook, TAs. Most of the deals are between Sheung Wan and Taipa, and very rarely Kowloon.

Also these last few posts -- including mine -- should probably be moved to the HKG-->Macau threads in the HK forum.

isnt the bridge now open, surely easier to get a taxi than schlep to the ferry terminal!

Anyone taken the new gazzillion dollar Bridge from airport to Macau? Been open a few weeks and i read there are some kind of buses from airport to Macau, and i assume this is faster than Ferry?

I am hoping there is a stop in Macau near this Sheraton?

Thanks for any input!
Yes my original query was how the Bridge worked as it will be cool to travel on it, but the wisdom here seemed to be Ferry was the go and day before purchases or Mastercard payment gave good discounts . But maybe neither it now seems!.

What does a Cab costs from HKIA to Sheraton Macua?
