Stay there last week on the Monday. Second stay, second time upgrade to the deluxe suite with the media room. At 108usd plus tax, pretty amazing "room"! Lounge is still closed. Was offered Xin at check-in...when I mention feast, was told...oh, you know the deal, yes sure you can go there too. Was interested in the best choice of wine for a drink first...Xin is better. Moved after to Feast. That's a truly nice buffet...was not crowded. Best Sheraton deal ever...at least for now. What I truly appreciate, is that the staff is well aware of it, and they seem to be proud of getting us an amazing time. Enjoy the deal, till it last!

Just want to confirm that they have sparkling wine available in evening happy hour at either xin or feast.

anybody booked a room for 3 adults and they generously granted club lounge access to all 3?

thank you

No idea for the 3rd person. They have Prosecco at Xin...not my preferred one, but the miss was happy...but their Sauvignon Blanc was more than decent.

Hi Xexs.

It all depends on the property. Alternatives may not be offered as indicated on SPG guidelines.

They are offering an alternative as discussed above and it can be clearly seen in the hotel information under ę Policies and Information Ľ.

Can confirm that breakfast is at Bene, with afternoon tea there as well, and evening "cocktails" at Feast. Not sure if it's also available at Xin, but the evening offering at Feast is expansive. It's also like 50% seafood if you're into that-- I'm talking everything... oysters, clams, lobster, fish, crawfish, crab, escargots (not really seafood but...). They also have some Indian options and a made-to-order noodle station. Not really any Western options. Lots of desserts, including a Haagen Dazs station. Wine, prosecco and juices/sparkling water available. Sake/beer/cocktails at extra charge it appears (around 48++ or 78++ free flow).

Still, I kind of miss the cozier atmosphere of the lounge. According to the SPG club lounge staff that have been here a while, no word on re-opening date for the lounge.

I just made a reservation for summer, and there's a notice on the website that the lounge will be closed until the end of the year. I always hated that lounge (not flaming you, but cozy would be the last word that comes to mind to describe it), and the current benefits are top notch ... I hope the lounge never reopens!

SPG platinum upgrades

I have been upgraded to the "massive suite" for 3 out of 4 paid visits over the last two years as an SPG platinum. The lone miss was on a Fri & Sat night stay. It is not difficult to get room comps in the casino; however, you get no free buffets, no chance of a room upgrade and not even SPG stay credit for casino comped stays.

Like you I find the current arrangement for Platinums to be incredibly great. It's worth hopping over for a Saturday night from Shenzhen when the room rate's around HK$1000 and two people can have an incredible seafood meal with freeflow sparkling wine and cocktails, good breakfast and a huge suite all in. I'll return there just to do this as long as the lounge is closed.

While I don't mind the lounge, I try to sit in the bar area which is (a) less of a bunfight and (b) close to the booze but I did find that the variety of food in the evening had deteriorated in the last few years and concentrated more on cheap Asian dishes (noodles etc.) and they'd dropped the more expensive Western ones (meats etc.).

When it reopens I'll revisit to see if they've restored the good food in the lounge. I like this hotel and I think it offers the best value of any I've stayed in for Platinums when you take the suite, breakfast, evening food and booze into account vs the price paid.

Thumbs down Not a pleasant stay

I usually stayed at St. Regis and decided to give Sheraton a try after reading all the positive reviews here. I was disappointed.
- No upgrade as SPG Plat. Not even a Club room which was still available for sale on SPG app. Was assigned a room on a low floor next to an elevator with partly blocked view and noise from passing guests.
- Slow and intermittent wi-fi connection.
- Key cards sometimes unable to be detected by elevators.
- Room not too well maintained.
- Despite the extensive food options at the buffets in lieu of Club offerings, the restaurants were way too busy with staff forgetting orders.
- Staff near the guest floor elevators were rude to guests asking about directions.

I understand that the free buffets are appealing to many, I would probably go back to St. Regis next time for a more relaxed environment and courteous staff.

Your experience is extraordinary and not typical. I think somebody made a mistake checking you in. Every report I've read and all my experience of checking in as a Platinum (six times) is that I get one of the huge modern suites with games rooms on a high floor. You should email the manager and ask what happened because your experience is definitely not SOP for this hotel.

On the food front, I remember that Platinums had their own area in Feast and we were let in half an hour earlier than the paying masses so we could get our crab legs and lobsters before they were hoovered up. Again, I think if you had got the suite that you should have then you would have a wholly different impression of the hotel and the benefits for Platinums.

When I stay I pay ~HK$1000 a night and for the suite, breakfast, and Feast for two with free flow (they let us stay until 9pm one night on the booze) you cannot compare the value of the experience with the St. Regis. But if you're a St. Regis kind of person then of course only that will do.

Lounge is apparently closed for the rest of the year, as per the hotelís website:

Until December 31, 2018, the Sheraton Club Lounge is closed for refurbishment. During this time, SPG and Club guests will have access to breakfast and evening cocktails in an alternate location. Additionally, check-in will be offered at the SPG Lounge in the main lobby. Please contact the hotel for further information.

Looks like plan changed. Lounge reopens on March 25 (today) according to post #55 of this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/star...rldwide-4.html. Hope the new lounge is better and larger.

Oh no. I just checked the app and it too reports March 25. I was going to go there for two nights in the coming holiday in April. Have to reconsider now. Iím sure the new lounge will be good but I was specifically going to take my friend to the buffet and marvel at the value.

Maybe Sanya now. Try somewhere new.
