The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Glad to see Marriott are capable of fixing something, even if it's just about further reducing benefits to its members. Maybe now they can get to fixing the IT and getting the properties to deliver the benefits they are meant to promise?

Certainly not the best outcome but at least it is unambiguous now. Thanks to all those in this thread fighting the good fight to make it happen.

It's not but ...

1. Cosmo was refusing to provide a benefit that appeared to be required
2. Basically, because some FTers kept pushing the issue, they responded by editing the T&C's. It's negative but we got a response.
3. Now ... if some other property says they don't have to provide the benefit, we're in a position to say you have to provide it unless its clear.

New black friday promotion from Cosmo, BOGO (implemented as 50% off) select dates Dec 10-Mar 1. Not a lot of weekends included. Not sure if I got this early due to my Sterling status.
Of course, no 50% off of resort fee, which seems like an oversight someone should fight.

I expect anyone can get this deal on the Cosmo website after logging in with Identity number.

Sorry for my late update. I guess I was the first one to start the discussion for requesting $100 compensation from the hotel for refusing to offer breakfast as Platinum Members' welcome gift.

My stay took place just after the Marriott/SPG merge. I filed a complaint immediately after check in, but Marriott customer care just throw the ball back to the hotel, which they refused to provide a meaningful reply and just played dumb. That really annoyed me. After calling my local (Hong Kong) Marriott customer care hotline, the manager confirmed that it's the hotel's fault and proactively offer me $100 compensation in early September, without any arguments. Total effort taken was just a few emails between Marriott and the hotel, and 2 phone calls. Altogether they took me around 30 min in total. Eventually I opted for 20k points instead due to the method of payment but that is another issue.

I'm not the type of person that seeks for drill loopholes and request for compensations etc. The T&C states breakfast could be a choice for my benefit, the hotel should act according to that. It's the hotel's problem trying to attract guests using their partnership with Marriott but not providing benefits as required. Furthermore, replying email in a rude manner, and even ignored Marriott's follow up requests showing them really irresponsible.That made me wanted to punish the hotel.

Whether or not they amend the T&C, the hotel will definitely not honor the breakfast choice for member. I think this outcome is fine. At least it clearly shows the hotel is not going to offer benefits to members so we can make better decision when choosing our accommodation.

As much as I love this hotel, I have so many problems with them honoring ANYTHING about the MR program or the rate inclusions. Examples of things I've had to deal with on the last stay:
  • I booked a rate that included daily breakfast at Wicked Spoon. They told me to charge it to the room and it would be automatically credited. It was not. Upon checkout, I had to go to the desk and have them fix the bill. Even after they credited it out, I had to cover gratuity... dumb.
  • Rate included "one category upgrade at check-in, subject to availability" (in addition to me being lifetime PP)... no upgrade... keep in mind, this is during a relatively dead period
  • My MR points never posted - this has happened to me probably 9/10 times I've stayed here.

What hotels/hotel chains do you stay at where they cover your gratuity? The closest thing I can think of was back in the day when Marriott's Plat amenity included a number of "choices" brought to your room, usually, the amenity card would say something like "no gratuity required" or "gratuity already included". But I can't think of any free meal rates or elite free breakfasts (in the US at least) that not only cover the meal but also any gratuity you wanted to give.

I stay at a property 1-2x per month, where I have a corporate rate inclusive of breakfast in the restaurant. At check-in, I'm given coupons for daily breakfast that have "Tax & gratuity included" printed on them.

i was in key west at a marriott resort two weeks ago and the elite breakfast coupons for use in the restaurant stated gratuity included. whether thats true or not who knows. I still through them 5 bucks each morning.

EDIT- In fact, I think every time ive had breakfast coupons for use in restaurants they have stated gratuity is included.

That is nice. While I sometimes also have free breakfast on my rates, I have to admit I haven't recently been at hotels where it also included gratuity. Good to know there are still some out there. Unfortunately, my experience has been that gratuity isn't normally covered.
