Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.
Resort fee:
* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.
Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:
Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.
Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:
* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay
Other tips
The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Casino properties base "high-level" upgrades on theo. Theo is "king!" Marriott status is minor (like for views). I always say, casino properties are the worst for non-casino status (such as Marriott platinum), unless occupancy is around 50%.
Marriott Platinum means very little, when you have guests with a 5000 theo; requesting an upgrade.

Also, I noticed (at check-in) they asked if I had stayed at the Cosmo before. I have stayed there 5 or 6 times. I was surprised that their computer did not show this. (this was after they added my Marriott Rewards #)

Casino properties have huge pressure to satisfy their high-theo guests. It's a much more "fair" system. So, while there might be 200 Identity-Platinums (for example) checking in, the suite (committee) will decide who gets the "best" upgrades by their individual theos (i.e. value to the casino).
A lot different, than just Marriott Platinum. Since, other than repeat guests, it's hard to really distinguish one Marriott Platinum from another; at check-in. Which, also makes sense, since hotel reward programs "basically" work as all who are in the same tier (say Platinum) are treated "about" equally.

Is anyone else get an error when they try to login to the Identity Program on the website? I checked it after the resort opened and I kept getting an error that said they were working on the site. Six months later I tried again and got the same error. I tried a third time last week and still.....the same error. Maybe it is me? Was hoping to login and see my points, level, etc..

Has anyone else experienced preassigned upgrade's? by checking the cosmo website day of arrival. Marriott.com will never show the upgrade. My last two stays i was already preassigned a Wrap around. I booked 3 rooms for next weekend and will see what happens. I have stayed at cosmo 17 times now. That might make a difference when they look at arriving guests. I seldom have time to gamble very much at cosmo.

Just completed my first stay for this property. MR Gold, no Identity status. Checked in at around 1:00a. Front desk clearly had rooms pre-blocked as after I gave name, ID, and CC they checked a printed out list for my name and then had papers printed out with keys attached. I had 2 City Rooms booked on LNF rate for 3 nights each. Check-in for room 1 was no problem; room was as promised. Went back down to check in for room 2 and inquired about any available complimentary upgrades. FD agent claimed that their system was down and offered nothing. Inquired if any paid upgrades were available. Denied again by FD agent citing their system being down. He said I could return at 5:00a and try again. Just what I wanted!
I called the 800 number for the hotel and asked if there were any suites available. The agent said yes and gave me the pricing. I then asked why I wasn't able to get one of these rooms (free or paid) at the front desk. She put me on hold and checked with he FD, then asked me to return and try again. I went back at 1:40a, got a different FD agent, and the system just happened to be working again. I ended up with a paid upgrade from a City Room to a 1 BR Terrace Suite on the 53rd floor in the East Tower for $30/night.
Nice property, but I felt like they were desperate for revenue. I was hopeful for a free upgrade mid-week in February - since I didn't get one this time, I doubt it will ever happen, but $30/night was still an excellent value for a paid (two level) room upgrade. Restaurants are top notch - we ate at Va Bene Caffe and Jaleo. Underground parking was great - free parking and green/red lights above each parking stall indicating if it is available. Rooms were beautifully appointed with nice amenities and views. Housekeeping was slow to arrive but very friendly. Gold MR status got me absolutely nothing, not even a mention at check-in. At check-out, I noticed that they'd only charged me the upgrade fee for two of the three nights. I suspect it was a mistake as I made the transaction after midnight on the first night.

Staying here right now for 2 nights. Checked in yesterday afternoon and got the room I paid for. When asked about a complementary upgrade, I was told they only do it for Platinum (I'm gold) members if there's any availability. Was offered a $50/night upgrade to a larger suite, which I denied.
The only reason why I chose to stay here was because it's supposed to be a Marriott, but next time I won't make the same mistake. While it's a nice property, their prices are insane and the service leaves a lot to be desired. Tried a couple of the restaurants, again, their prices are out of whack.
I understand most hotels on the strip charge this outrageous prices, however, you expect a high level of service, which does not exist in this property.
Was supposed to get a room facing the fountains, didn't get that. Could have gone back downstairs to change it, but frankly, I could care less about the view....
China Poblano charged me $4 for getting tortillas with my meal, seriously! $4! for 5 tortillas... Room service got the wrong omelette, no biggie, but again, if I'm paying $35 for a freaking omelette at least get it right... They had another one up here in about 30 minutes...
I could keep going on and on and on, but you get the idea... they want to charge Wynn prices but don't provide Wynn service....

WHY...........G's also provided upgrades.............
For Gold Elite members the best way is up! So every time you check in, we'll do our best to upgrade you to a premium room - at no additional charge – for your entire stay. Upgrades may include rooms with desirable views, rooms on high floors, corner rooms, rooms with special amenities, rooms on Executive Floors, or suites, subject to availability identified by each hotel.

I'm only going back because I got a fantastic LNF deal and have negotiated a guaranteed free upgrade due to numerous problems on a previous stay. I'll probably still regret this decision

I have stayed at the Cosmo about 6 times and love the location and the rooms. I agree that service is their weak point (inconsistent.) I am not thrilled about the resort fee, but it is still a good deal if you find a decent LNF rate. I may try the Wynn next visit just to see how we like it.
